Comments Thread For: Wilder's Manager: DAZN Never Told Us What Joshua Was Getting

A percentage of what? We're not talking a PPV where there's an unknown upside with no theoretical limit. DAZN are providing the pot which is fixed.
Could AJ have received additional monies related to UK PPV or DAZN sign ups? Who knows? The point really is that Wilder's guaranteed fee is so much bigger than anything he's earned before or would earn again that the public fretting over how much AJ is getting starts to seem a little forced.
The fact is that AJ can earn well with or without this fight. Sure he earns more from this than any other, but there's a big difference between what he and Wilder earns in the next year if this fight isn't made so whichever way AJ out earns him, its' just if they fight that discrepancy won't be so large.Comment

Maybe you should ask yourself as a fan if you want it to work? Would you rather pay the $70-$90 PPV charges for however many big fights a year you want to see, plus cable subscription as you've been doing or would a smaller one off payment per year work better for you?Comment

hes making that bet based on doing 300k buys? if he was such a huge ppv star why is his next fight on normal showtime? joshuas never been on ppv either and he never will becaue he fighsts on dazn. that model is not relevant because its not a realistic option. how do 2 non ppv stars suddenly jump to doing 2 million buys? i've never seen that.
if wilder fury can do 300k wilder joshua can do 2 million? whats that based on? alternative reality model?
tell me what model and based on what is wilder worth 40 mil each to fight AJ then.....thats what DAZN "apparently" offered...so tell me....based on what model is wilder worth that....Comment

Time will tell. It seems to be working so far for Canelo or GGG etc. Understand there are some forces out there who don't want it to work, because they've invested vast sums in the old model. The su****ion on the Wilder decision is that those interests are controlling the fighter, because the offer he turned down was more than fair.

This may surprise you but honestly, I don't like the subscription stuff. I already pay a **** ton of money a month for my cable bill then on top of that I have to now pay a monthly subscription for most fights that I use to be able to see that were INCLUDED with my cable. Now these Subscriptions expect me to pay for the service regardless if I want to see the fights or not. I'm missing all those fights on ESPN + because I refuse to pay another subscription in addition to DAZN. Honestly I would rather pay per view. Pay per view fights don't happen that often to really hurt my pockets so I prefer the old way before all of these dam subscriptions.
I get that. Although you may be unaware that DAZN allows you to cancel and resubscribe as often as you want, so you could simply have it for the one month whilst the fight you want to see is on then cancel it. It would be a 20 dollar PPV in other words rather than an ongoing drain on your budget.Comment

There’s not a scenario where Wilder makes anything close to that money without the fight happening on DAZN.
Joshua will make that kind of money with or without Wilder, not to mention the fact that Joshua would beat Wilders ass easily.
That fight isn’t anymore valuable than any other Joshua fight. This isn’t a Floyd/Pacquiao situation.
You really have no idea how big an event this could be? lolComment

Three flat fees on offer is quite different what was actually asked for.
Wilder-Whyte in the UK (at O2 Arena, on Sky Box Office and Showtime) was worth far more than $7m to the WBC Heavyweight champion making a voluntary defense of his title, made even worse a deal when moved to a possible 20k viewers on DAZN.
[I don't know the numbers but what would've been wrong with the 80/20 fighter/promoter share of the proceeds after costs, with Wilder-Whyte then splitting that 80/20 Wilder? If there were issues with not wanting outsiders looking in on your books, make the fee offer off of something defendable; sellout of Wembley, 500k+ on Box Office/etc, costs, 80% and then 80%.]
And Wilder was open for 60/40 on the first Joshua fight, with 50/50 on the rematch were he to win [If there are again issues with opening the books, deliver a better projection; basically Joshua-Klitschko, less costs, 80% for the two fighters, with Wilder getting 40%. With the rematch to be figured out later.
60/40 on a Joshua-Wilder fight then, outside looking in, would've likely set the expected offer at near $20m.
$10m on the Whyte fight, $20m on the Joshua fight, and a written 50/50 split for the rematch maybe would've gotten a deal.
$7m for the voluntary with Whyte, $15m for Joshua, and a fee for the rematch, with Hearn trying to push all three fights to DAZN, was a poor deal.Comment
