This isn’t the 80’s and 90’s. The last heavyweight to put up those numbers was Tyson and that was decades ago.
Most sports fans have never heard of Joshua or Wilder. They are not mega draws and won’t be anytime soon.
If they fought on a traditional PPV platform they would struggle to hit 500k buys.
Stop embarrassing yourself. Just admit Wilder would rather duck a fight he won’t win than make the most money. Down the line Wilder will have to admit this to himself.
Would you like to bet, too? Folks get in the habit of talking **** without actually knowing **** because there's no cost to them being ****ups.
An undisputed heavyweight championship fight, between an undefeated American heavyweight who flattens everyone versus an unbeaten Brit who flatten most people, with both guys being able to promo with great back stories, and Showtime/FOX/ESPN not having a better fight to sell? lol
Let's use your market; over/under 500k PPV buys if Wilder-Joshua gets booked. What's your wager on the under?Comment

Your really embarrassing yourself here. Looking at your post count it might be time to step away from the keyboard and get a life.Comment

More like an American champ who most people thought lost his last fight and only pulled in 325K in his first PPV against a guy in Joshua who is largely unknown and just had a sizable drop in UK PPV numbers in his last fight.

look at wilders "guarantee" in that deal.....how can they justify it? do you think they are just hoping to sell crazy subscriptions?
you cant tell us you think the fight doesnt do that in america and tell us that dazn just offered wilder 40 mil...it cant be bothComment

DAZN already gave you an idea of what they think the fight does....if you believe their offer was real

If Showtime saw Wilder as that big of a draw why isn’t his next fight on PPV? What did he make for fighting Fury in his only PPV to date? My hood friend went to the fight and said they were practically giving tickets away the week of the fight. What is his purse for his upcoming fight?Last edited by QballLobo; 03-23-2019, 10:13 AM.Comment

You answered your own question. The DAZN offer reflected their current business model of wanting big fights to garner more subs. They don’t expect that one fight to do huge numbers but want people to sign up for the year.

ive been to a wilder fight...at the barclays against ortiz...the crowd was packed and lively....
DAZNs offer reflects what they feel the fight will do stateside....at least minimum....and thats why they wouldnt tell wilders side what AJ was getting...because he was probably getting more plus potential upside
DAZNs offer tells you all you need to now...theyve done their market reasearch...they arent hoping...theyve done research and found out that wilder is worth 40 million to them in this fight
too many of you idiots dont know how to seperate fighters...wilder vs fury or wilder vs brezeale isnt wilder vs AJ...the same way AJ vs miller or AJ v. povetkin is NOT aj vs wilder
its like ggg and canelo...based on gggs previous ppvs he wasnt worth much either...but put him in with canelo and hes worth more.....take canelo vs liam smith and khan and hes not doing great numbers...now you put canelo and ggg in together and you have an event
too many of you are too friggin dumb or just plain wilfully ignoring this...its not the same when you seperate these two as when you put them togetherComment

if aj is getting upside and wilder is not i dont think wilder is looking at that deal as fair at all....both guys should be getting upside potentialComment
