Comments Thread For: Wilder's Manager: DAZN Never Told Us What Joshua Was Getting

Because the subtext to this is the battle between competing broadcast models, Showtime's 90 dollar PPV versus DAZN's 10 dollar per month subscription.
DAZN need multiple fights, because otherwise they are in effect selling a 90dollar PPV for 10 dollars which obviously won't work. They want wilder on their network for 3 or 4 fights to maximise the number of people who sign up and stay signed up for long enough to, hopefully, enjoy the service and stay with them. Their model only makes sense if they retain customers beyond the one month trial period.
Showtime however don't care about that, they make their 90 dollars from the one fight.
So if wilder wants the DAZN 100m it would have to be over several fights. If he, or his advisors, want the one off PPV then he is in effect saying showtime or nothing.
US fight fans are being presented with two competing models for buying the biggest fights and those two models have aligned themselves with the two current hw champions. That's what this is all about.Comment

What did he say that wasn't an excuse?
I swear, Wilder could come right out and say, "I'm never going to fight AJ cuz I'm scared of getting knocked out" and ****heads like him still wouldn't accept it, even from Wilder's own mouth.Last edited by kafkod; 03-21-2019, 04:18 PM.Comment

Is Wilder's manager a ****** teenager or what? It's like being offered a job and you have to know how much the other applicants are getting.
Shirley Finkel has no clue how much Wilder is worth. Can't blame him, all he got is a Luis Ortiz win in his resume.Comment

EXACTLY BUT HATERS GONNA HATE. I want to see the fight too but why would Wilder sign up for a 3 fight deal with a promoter he not only does not trust, but doesnt even like? WHy would he think he can believe anything that Hearn is affiliated with?Comment

So why didn't team Wilder make counter offers and negotiate then? We always hear about what everyone else is doing wrong. Now it's not Hearn, it's DAZN. So what did, and is Wilder doing to make the fight? Answer, nothing, no counter offer, no real negotiations, not willing to budge from 50/50 in US, on a Showtime/PBC card. That speaks for it self.
Joshua has now seemingly conceded to the first fight happening in the US, he's made numerous offers, each one better than the last, Hearn, ESPN and DAZN have all tried setting up meetings only for Finkel to not the show up.
You're trying to justify Wilders duck by pointing out that DAZN/Hearn haven't got their offer right out the gate, since when do fights get made by walking away from the negotiation the moment you don't like one detail about a deal? each and every time they go away throw their hands up about what the other guys haven't got right, but they never told Skipper what was wrong when they met.
These are just excuses for team Wilder to delay the fight and you know it. When Wilders team want the fight to get made the details will be ironed out behind closed doors.
but hearn and dazn already know its gonna be a split...50/50...and they dont like the thought of that seeing as how they never thought it would come close to that(see 12.5/15 mil offers previously)
they dont have to counter....dazn and hearn already know what wilder wants and what hell ask for
this was nothing more than ass covering time by DAZN...knowing if the have to split the fight and AJ loses they lose a bunch of money
they wanted wilder locked into a flat fee for a rematch even if he wins the first one LOL...thats bad business on wilders part
NOTHING has changed except wilder is not fighting brezeale on DAZN...but on showtimeComment

That's why business contracts exist!Comment

There’s not a scenario where Wilder makes anything close to that money without the fight happening on DAZN.
Joshua will make that kind of money with or without Wilder, not to mention the fact that Joshua would beat Wilders ass easily.
That fight isn’t anymore valuable than any other Joshua fight. This isn’t a Floyd/Pacquiao situation.
Anthony Joshua has Pulev next, the WBA mandatory after that, Usyk, and Dillian Whyte if he's still around; nothing that'll approach the pot for Klitschko, nothing near what he's likely to see on a Wilder fight, and you can for sure dead the thought of Joshua possibly being the first billion dollar fighter.
Joshua will fight for his purse (getting $30m to take on Jarell Miller in the US ****ed that UK setup, because he's unlikely to see $30m on any of those 4 fights in the UK) and maybe 30k folks will still be watching him in the US.Comment

Is this the 50/50 that Team Wilder now apparently insist on? No. Is it fair considering the disparity between the two fighters in terms of commercial pulling power, belts etc. No, it's likely unfair to AJ. He'd be getting around twice his previous purse whilst Wilder, getting nearer 4 times his. But if he, or rather his advisors, were desperately looking for reasons not to take the deal, they could seize on this and maybe some would buy it.Comment

wilders team can go to them to negotiate when both fights are done
but hearn and dazn already know its gonna be a split...50/50...and they dont like the thought of that seeing as how they never thought it would come close to that(see 12.5/15 mil offers previously)

And you are not telling the full story ... if Wilder had accpted DAZN's offer he would also have them locked into a $40million flat fee for a rematch, even if he lost the first fight.Comment
