i'm a floyd fan and would like to see floyd vs marg, but too many people on here talking **** like floyd's ducking the guy which i don't think is the case at all. boxing is a business and people have to realize that. if marg would of had bigger fights on his record it would of defenitely set up a bigger showdown with the two.

Lets understand what Margarito is. Bob Arum is praying that Margarito somehow beats Floyd so that he can instantly become a big time PPV megastar based on the fact that he is a Mexican fighter. Unfortunately for Arum Margarito just ain't that good. He can't build himself up to Mayweather's level with a series of fights against legit contenders at the weight class. SO instead Arum is trying to create a hail mary situation hoping that Margarito lands a lucky punch and pulls it off. That is what the campaign to shame Mayweather into fighting this guy is about. I don't blame Mayweather for not taking the fight. Why fight a guy who is not nearly as skilled and who will just hope to land one lucky lottery punch. It is no win.

good post, it's a lose/lose situation. if the fight happens and floyd embarrases him all we will here is another fighter that hasn't proved himself and if somehow (and that's a big somehow) marg pulls it off all will here is another story how floyd lost to a guy who hasn't proven himself. i didn't see marg trying to unify the welterweight title but as soon as floyd steps up thats what everyone expects.

If Tony really wants the fight, he will move to Floyds date.

If Margarito want to fight, be willing to fight in November. The best fighter in the world dont chase after fighters, other fighter fight when and where he want to fight. That is the benefit of being the best. And to be honest, im not even that excited about seeing floyd fight margarito. Yeah margarito is a big strong pressure fighter, but his skills aint that nice. Someone even compared him to Castillo on this thread. he is nowhere near Castillo. He doesnt have Castillo head movement, his jab, or the accuracy. And we all know u need lateral movement and a jab to neutralize speed. And Margarito seems to be weak in those areas atleast in the fights i've seen.

I'd love to see Floyd/Margi, not cause it would be a great fight, but because I want all this ducking bull**** to stop. IMHO If Margi was the bigger name then Floyd should be doing everything to get the fight, but it's the other way around, neither Winky or Floyd, the 2 p4p best fighters in the world need to give in to Margarito or Arums demands. The question should be that if Margarito fans really want him to fight Floyd, why don't they say Margi duckin' Floyd by not fighting him in Nov.

Look, I think it's pretty easy to figure out. Mayweather took a year off to wait for Gatti, and it looks like he's trying to do the same with DLH.

Presently, there are NO other big-name/big-money opportunities available, so why not work with Arum and take $8 million-plus to fight a respectable opponent in Margarito? Margie has not established himself as an all-time great or anything, but a win over him right now would be worth more than the wins over guys like NDou, Corley, Bruseles, and Mitchell put together. I believe that's what the public perception would be, anyway.
First of all, Margarito should be the one jumping through hoops to make this fight happen, NOT Mayweather.

Second of all, do you honestly think HBO (who have already booked the venue in Las Vegas in November for a PPV date) give up one of the most marketable, best fighters in the world to a PPV rival's card (Top Rank)... less than one month earlier...

Third of all, Floyd said that not having Roger Mayweather in his corner is one thing (he said he'd fight anyway), but also not having Leonard Ellerbe in his corner AS WELL is pushing it. So to make this fight happen:

                    - Floyd has to breach his HBO contract.
                    - Expect HBO to negotiate giving up Floyd to a rival's PPV card.
                    - Fight without TWO key members of his corner (a day before the suspension is up)

If Margarito and Arum want this fight as bad as they say they do, why won't they fight Floyd in November? I haven't seen any offers from the Margarito camp to fight him then.

And I garuntee you, if they offered Floyd $8 mill. to fight him in November, he would take it at the drop of a hat, garunteed, no questions asked.

when floyd first turned the $8 mil, it was said to be because of the possibilty of fighting oscar... now that the oscar fight is out the question, there's a new excuse as to why he's not taking the fight...

i dont care if he fights toney, I just want him to fight an opponent that has a legit chance against him... no more ***** ass opponents, i wanna see him fight tony, shane, wright, forrest, hatton, oscar or cotto... IF he ends up fighting baldy, gatti or some other HUGE underdog, he'll be adding a tanker of fuel to fire that he already has against him...
