I'm honestly not sure what could really be done. Like, HBO has floyd on lockdown for that fight. As a ppv fight with almost anybody he'll pull 300k buys. 300kbuys x $50 = 15,000,000 on PPV buys alone. I doubt they'd be willing to give it up easily, but I'm hardly a lawyer or know all of the ins and outs of the boxing world so maybe Arum could buy out HBO's deal somehow.... but I'm not really sure, maybe somebody else who's more knowledgeable on this particular subject could sound off. -
Legally speaking Floyd has to fight in November unless HBO okays an October fight. If Margarito and Arum are so intent on fighting him why can' they move the date back one month. If Margarito is already obligated to fight in October then it really is just an impossible match to makeComment

Yeah, I think it's just speculation but I really think Arum legitimately could work something out. He's just so damn powerful.
Look, I think it's pretty easy to figure out. Mayweather took a year off to wait for Gatti, and it looks like he's trying to do the same with DLH.
Presently, there are NO other big-name/big-money opportunities available, so why not work with Arum and take $8 million-plus to fight a respectable opponent in Margarito? Margie has not established himself as an all-time great or anything, but a win over him right now would be worth more than the wins over guys like NDou, Corley, Bruseles, and Mitchell put together. I believe that's what the public perception would be, anyway.Comment

The fight will be PPV and Im sure it will be on HBO so they wont lose money, they make more money.Originally posted by Dirt E GomezI'm honestly not sure what could really be done. I agree with Smokin' in that taking another year off to wait for DLH is completely unacceptable. Floyd relies on speed and he is not getting any younger. His prime is only going to last for 5 more years (tops). At his current work rate he might only fight 4 more times in his career. Totally ridiculous, and I am a fan of his.Comment

You're preaching to the choir. I want to see PBF against Margo... not as much as I do want to see him against Hatton but it seems Hatton doesn't quite want that yet. It'd be nice if something could be worked out but I understand why it might not/can't work. I'd of course love to see Floyd against any challenging opponent though.Originally posted by Smokin'Presently, there are NO other big-name/big-money opportunities available, so why not work with Arum and take $8 million-plus to fight a respectable opponent in Margarito? It's all about contracts and whatnot. Will Floyd get a % of buys? Will his opponent get a %? Also, the fight is on HBO PPV but it's also being promoted by HBO, so they get a much larger cut.. so if they let PBF fight on Arum's promoted card they wouldn't get nearly the size of slice. Once again though, I'm not sure of all of the legal workings but I'm pretty sure I'm on the right path with my statements so far.Originally posted by !{BrownBomber}The fight will be PPV and Im sure it will be on HBO so they wont lose money, they make more money.Comment

Yep. Your last sentence was golden. "I'd of course love to see Floyd against any challenging opponent though."
Mayweather has certainly had NO ... I repeat NO problem taking on non-superstar or no-name fighters in the past (even the recent past) for much less money than what he's being offered for this fight. Heck, he's even taken on name fighters for much less money than this. I truly think his own assessment of the risk/return ratio for this fight is much higher than what most people think it is, which baffles the heck out of me because he's the top dog of the sport. I think reluctant or highly risk-averse are fair adjectives to attach to his attitude towards this fight.
I don't think he is "ducking" Margie, but he's ****in' reluctant as hell to fight him.Comment

While fear or risk/reward ratio seems to be the only possible excuse, to me, Floyd doesn't seem capable of thinking he could lose to anyone. If you asked Floyd if he could beat Sam Peter he would probably say he'd KO him. So maybe there really is some other reason, but maybe its all false bravado... remains to be seen.Comment

finally someone that makes sense.I didnt think about all the bells and whistles but i still think like you said something can be arranged.Like people have been saying the ball is in Mayweathers court.Originally posted by Dirt E GomezIt's all about contracts and whatnot.
