I think that was a great breakdown from Bread for this fight. Let's see how it plays out

Its easy to forget nowadays because time has passed
NOONE gave Cotto a shot at beating Martinez, even an older broken down Martinez. The consensus was that Martinez was going to beatdown Cotto.
I think alot of people forget that Cotto wasnt the favorite or underdog and how impossible the odds seemed. Its an ATG victory.
It reminds me of Lucas vs Danny in a way. EVERYONE and their mother thought the only way Garcia was leaving the ring was on a stretcher
This is what I said at the time and I stand by it...
Maybe. Two of the most respected fighters in the sport, and both within a few fights of retirement. I woulda said Maravilla without a thought even at the start of 2012, but after how he looked against Murray I ain't at all sure.
If Cotto does want to get his 4th divisional title then this is his best shot; against a faded Maravilla who probably won't actually be fighting much bigger than he is.
Still, I guess it's a matter of waiting to see what Sergios got left, if he's still got 90% of his speed and mobility, Cotto could find himself in deep water. This fight will be decided by Sergios speed and mobility - by his ability to keep the fight at range. If Cotto can cut down the ring and make it a knife fight I think the fight is his.
And I was far from the only one who shared those sentiments, though there were still plenty who thought Maravilla would destroy Cotto.
I'll not pretend I didn't expect Sergio to win, but it was generally understood that he was close to hanging 'em up, and if not completely shot was well on the way.Last edited by Citizen Koba; 03-16-2019, 08:43 AM.Comment

Not a single trainer, ex boxer or official I know thought Maravella was healthy at all when he WALKED into the ring let alone for the fight. His mobility was SHOT from the ring walk. Anyone who claims Sergio was healthy for the Cotto fight is a fanboy or ******.Comment

Bread is a magnificent boxing analyst, ATG level analyst, but he's only human man give him a break.
When it comes to Andre Ward, Gennady Golovkin, Canelo Alvares, James Toney, Evander Holyfield, Roman Gonzalez, Manny Pacquiao, Joe Louis, and Miguel Cotto, take everything he says with a grain of salt.
Also, he's a closet Mayweather hater.
Other than that, you good to go man.Comment

Much respect to the breadman!!
When I saw the Spence Brook fight I was surprised because of all the hype of greatness like a SRL in Spence! I like Spence!! When I saw that fight and then hear the challenge from Mikey I thought Mikey can get this dude!!
I don’t question the early rounds. I believe Mikey will win most of those rounds to round 8.
It’s past round 8 that has great intrigue 😂 because Spence will come like a freight train UNLESS MIKEY HAS PUT THE MUSTARD ON HIS ASS !😂
I will be SCREAMING FOR MIKEY !! I believe in Mikey!! I think he will MAKE 9-12 HIS!!
if IF ,,, IF Mikey does it he puts many to shame by his gamness, unafraid to take risks like Mayweather! He Shines like the brightest star! This is no gimme!!! Mikey MUST SHINE or bite the dust! I don’t see him biting dust . I see Dust flying off Spence’s chin😃Comment

Make no mistake, man, the Breadman is my favourite boxing columnist and analyst bar none, and it's my observation, in as far as you can make such a judgement from his words alone, that he's a good human being too. It ain't really a criticism of him to point out that I think he can get it wrong from time to time.Bread is a magnificent boxing analyst, ATG level analyst, but he's only human man give him a break.

And I don't really think he hates on anyone, but sometimes even fairly balanced and moderate opinions ain't good enough (or negative enough) for those with strongly polarised views.Comment
