Going the WBC route, Whyte would likely have to fight Ortiz in a final eliminator. Going the WBO route, Whyte probably won't need to fight a final eliminator if he signs with Arum/Warren. If he stayed with Hearn, the WBO might have forced him to face an Arum or Warren fighter in a final eliminator.
They are not winning that bid with DAZN for the WBO title. The great thing for him in that instance is he wouldn’t have to give Joshua a rematch. He would get 20% but he wouldn’t have to rematch AJ.

      Odd times indeed.
Certainly caught me off guard, but if it gives Arum both the IBF mandatory and the WBO mandatory, that's two chances to go to purse bid to try to bring Joshua to ESPN or force him to vacate.

I noticed Fury was in the top 5 for the WBO the other day. Curious if he was before he signed to TR haha

Anything can happen in a purse bid. There's no guarantee DAZN would win. Arum may over bid in the hopes that DAZN won't let Joshua fight on ESPN, forcing Joshua to vacate. In that instance, Arum never actually has to pay what he bid. The split is 75/25 in the WBO btw, not 80/20, although Joshua could petition to alter the split. If Whyte is with Arum/Warren, good luck getting the WBO to adjust the split.

Agree, anything can happen in a purse bid, but Joshua isn't signed to DAZN, he works with them on a fight by fight basis, so even if Joshua goes and fight on ESPN they would want him to win and sign exclusively to them....Why? Because they see him as a money train when compared to Fury or Whyte.

Joshua was elevated to the "Super" champion with the WBO which means he gets 80% v 20% of his mandatory.

Yeah, but hat would only get him on WBC rankings though. That’s why he was only on the WBC list until recent. All three of his comeback fights were sanctioned by the WBC

Does Bob got a BT deal?

Maybe I'm f#cking nuts but isn't it better to be a UK PPV fighter than a US ESPN fighter?

Is Bob paying Whyte THAT much that UK PPV doesn't make sense anymore?

This is confusing the hell outta me with Bob signing big UK draws to put in US fights lol. Seems like not the greatest move. Than again Bob keeps signing all these foreign guys....thing is outside of Manny & to a lesser degree Shiming + Loma he's not had very much success with those moves.

All the top UK fighters are coming stateside. ESPN upped its budget for 2019 and America is where the money is at.

Arum's US fights air on BT Sports and Warren's UK fights air on ESPN+. Those two basically have a deal together. This is why I don't think Whyte fights on Sky anymore, but will be fighting on BT Sports.

ESPN must be paying Whyte around 4M or so for his fights. Maybe a little less but in that range.
