Makes no sense to reveal they may have Whyte, could cost them more money now.
I mean no one knew what TR/Fury were up to. It is NO secret what Whyte is up to. Totally different situations. Harder to keep the Whyte stuff under wraps when everyone knows he is fielding calls from every network/promoter.

And it very well could be Whyte's team is leaking this to get a better offer from Matchroom. Who knows, but if that is the case, why would Whyte tell Hearn there is no truth to the rumors? If he was truly trying to up the offer, he would have told him this is what I'm being offered and these fights and I'm leaning towards taking it. And at that point Hearn would tell him well let me see what I can do and I'll make you a new offer in the next few days. Granted, he doesn't have an official contract with Matchroom so not sure how that would work but he would allow Hearn to come up with something if he was just trying to leverage for a better deal.

And who the hell knows, maybe TR is going to be paying him like 5M for mediocre opponents. The article did say that is what he was being offered for Joshua right? Just wouldn't be surprised either way.

As for the super champion getting an 80/20 split, do you mind showing me where it says that in the WBO rules? You could be right, but I don't see any reference to that. Only that a WBO champion gets a 75/25 split if they fight at home and 80/20 if they fight away.
You said DAZN wouldn’t let Joshua fight on ESPN.

From what I know DAZN has a bigger budget than ESPN/plus. So I can say for guarantee that they would lose a purse bid to ESPN. Maybe for lesser known boxers.

Whyte discuss the 20% himself recently on IFL TV. He prefers to get that 20% and no rematch clause if he wins.

No, I said Arum might over bid in hopes that DAZN wouldn't let Joshua fight on ESPN. Not because they'd necessarily have the contractual right to block it, but because they might offer him more money to give up the belt and stay on DAZN. There would obviously be a lot of egg on Hearn's face and DAZN's face if Joshua fought on ESPN and Hearn and DAZN had no involvement in the promotion.

I don't see anything in the WBO rules that says that, but maybe Whyte is under that impression for some reason. If he signs with Arum/Warren, it does seem the strategy would be taking the WBO mandatory to a purse bid so there's no rematch clause.
