I think he is super skilled, To reach the top level you have to be but he may not appear to possess the same talent as other top elite fighters he’s still miles beyond the talent and skills then even what most Top notch contenders bring to the table

I think his willingness to lay it all on the line like few fighters would when he fought and his the massive stones he showed makes you think his talent isn’t the same and that’s what got him there but it’s there in abundance

If I remember correctly he was the man in the AMs for Argentina so you’d think he definitely brought more then just heart and balls to table

At 35 a boxer is on the decline , there’s literally just a handful of fighters usually the greats that were able to compete at the top level past 35 years of age. Most fighters even great ones are basically just dust at 35 and beyond. Even HW who can stay in the game longer then the smaller guys are almost always on their way out as far as being top dogs past 35 and if they aren’t completely on their way out its just a matter of time usually not more then 1-3 years if they’re still in the sport they have become basically just name brand scalp for the new generation to feast on and make their name off of

At 35 the fighters that were successful almost all had to rely more on their boxing IQ then their physical attributes because at 35 they aren’t the same speed , quickness , athleticism , willingness to take a beating and lay it all
Onthe line all of those attributes and any other athletic attribute except maybe power is on the decline from their peak and have been probably been for some time. At 35 your body isn’t the same chemically either men naturally become less aggressive compared to their 20s I imagine this isn’t a good trait for a fighter.

Just because there’s been a few guys this era to continue to be top dogs in the sport at 35 and beyond probably due to advancement in training , nutrition, supplements and information about getting the most out of your body at that age they are no where near their peak and if you look at the history of the sport almost all fighters even the greats were just waiting to get body bagged by the quicker , fasTer , hungrier Young
Gun and get physically removed from the sport if they continued to fight at 35 or Beyond

          Mayweather opponent before Pacquao.

Both off long layoffs, Maidana gets his payday, Floyd gets a W off a faded name.

It will take him a year to make a welterweight limit.

... OK... I liked Maidana... as I liked Matthysse as well... but I think that Maravilla Martinez was the actual Argentinian super-talent...

Maidana is not as fat as you think... he loses weight easily ala Tyson Fury.
