I think his willingness to lay it all on the line like few fighters would when he fought and his the massive stones he showed makes you think his talent isn’t the same and that’s what got him there but it’s there in abundance
If I remember correctly he was the man in the AMs for Argentina so you’d think he definitely brought more then just heart and balls to table
At 35 the fighters that were successful almost all had to rely more on their boxing IQ then their physical attributes because at 35 they aren’t the same speed , quickness , athleticism , willingness to take a beating and lay it all
Onthe line all of those attributes and any other athletic attribute except maybe power is on the decline from their peak and have been probably been for some time. At 35 your body isn’t the same chemically either men naturally become less aggressive compared to their 20s I imagine this isn’t a good trait for a fighter.
Just because there’s been a few guys this era to continue to be top dogs in the sport at 35 and beyond probably due to advancement in training , nutrition, supplements and information about getting the most out of your body at that age they are no where near their peak and if you look at the history of the sport almost all fighters even the greats were just waiting to get body bagged by the quicker , fasTer , hungrier Young
Gun and get physically removed from the sport if they continued to fight at 35 or BeyondComment
