It don't matter. You really don't get what that guy is trying to say....
He means Maidana retired in his prime cause he wanted too...
He retired with his money and his health!
Some Fighter's retire too late for financial reasons or cause they think they can still compete at a high level and it usually never ends well for them....
Bernard Hopkins and Roy Jones are recent prime examples...
Maidana coming back after being away for so long and gaining so much weight might not turn out well for him....
That's the point he's trying to make.

He had two massive paydays and overachieved against the P4P star at the time.

He easily could have lined up fights against all the top fighters at 147/154 and made good money for the following couple of years.

But he made his money and checked out, that is until now.

I like Maidana but I don't think he can compete at the level he once did. I really hope he doesn't get used to build up other guy's resumes.......
Hope nothing but the best for him!

He probably still has his money, but got bored after 4 years of doing nothing.

If he can train for six months, get two fights and make 5M usd, why not? then retire again. If he's successful and then is offered a 10+ M payday, then again why not? he probably got bored of doing nothing.

he retired too early. he still had a good 2-3 fights left in him.

not sure if this comeback will turn out any good.

Hope the comeback is successful. The welterweight division is no joke. Should be interesting!

Who cares about Maidana at this point?
He'll get a tuneup fight first, then what?
Which top PBC fighter is willing to fight him?

I bet they all are. Think about it youre catching a guy thats older, fat, coming off a 5 year lay off, and will be getting a big payday to boot. Its a no brainer if you get offered a fight with chino
