Proves how smarter Floyd is than Duran if true. Shouldn’t be still trying to prove yourself in your 40s in a sport like boxing.

Hagler was 30yrs old had been in close to 60 fights and only fought 4times after that I wouldn’t exactly call that his prime. The word prime is overused in boxing anyway.

Hagler was the consensus #1 p4p in the world in what is considered one of the golden era's of the sport when Duran fought him. He was starving for a big money fight still though and Duran obliged. There's been a few fighters who've retired in their primes too so the fights afterwards can be misleading.

Better fighters than Duran have also fought close into their 40's too. The money in different era's can dictate how long some guys stick around and some guy it's not just to prove themselves either. They just love to fight.

so how come Floyd was called all kinds of names and called "scared" when he didn't want to take on a career 160 guy even if the fight would have been at 154?

I know Floyd is in his own stratosphere...but how come the golovkin guy wouldn't do 154 for arguably the 2nd biggest name in the sport in canelo? or even cotto who is very well known and one of the bigger names at the time?

yet somehow when a featherfisted 168 guy challenged golovkin every excuse was made for golovkin to avoid that fight...despite the fact that golovkin talked about 168 incessantly and even put his name to paper to fight a guy there? "cant duck a guy not in your division".....but Floyd was constantly called "Scared" and a "cherrypicking poosy"..

All Canelo had to do was beat Floyd, which he didn't. The offer was made BEFORE and after the fight to fight the winner. Why would Golovkin settle for the loser?

Canelo lost to Mayweather as many aspiring future young stars lost to old experienced champs in their prime; the point is that Golovkin was also somehow in his prime and would have smashed Mayweather out. Duran I think has to be in any credible top 10. I have him just outside the top 5. I think top 20 is far too generous to Mayweather or any recent fighter. All things considered I'd have him between 40-50 I'd say and just slightly behind Pacquaio who's done more things that I'd consider slightly more unprecedented (relative to era).

Floyd was the current champion at 154
and GGG, a natural middleweight offered to squeeze down to 154 to fight Mayweather for Mayweather's two world titles at 154. Mayweather punked out. He declined. He said no thanks. There is nothing hard to understand about it, GGG hater.
