He's beaten Teper and Wallisch and most of his losses came earlier, only Fury and Povetkin beating him more recently. I think he will give Ortiz some tough rounds and will be coming to win.
Yes, Hammer is a cut above the regular journeyman level. He isn't hard to hit, but he's tough, determined, and has decent stamina. If Ortiz doesn't stop him early, Hammer could test him in the later rounds.

      Good for him.

But he will be exposed horribly in his next fight against AJ. And be back to being the C grade domestic level fighter that he has proven himself to be in almost all his fights.

How did Ortiz even earn a Wilder shot? This old dude has no business fighting anymore.

Hammer is not that bad relatively speaking but lying about the quality of his opponents isn't going to help. He's popular in the US right (he let himself down big time in the UK .. go watch the Malik Scott fight on youtube) someone must want to fight him there.

Why would anyone think that AJ is protected from Ortiz based on what performance , what is the rest of the world missing. At least Wilder has a punch, Brezeale can take a beating, Miller throws lots of shots .. Ortiz has .. a bad heart problem ... I'm staring at his record .. Jennings and I'm struggling . His amateur record aint that great either, its not terrible but nothing stellar, Povetkin beat him easily enough. He's a neat looking boxer (not Fury level), personally I'd give him another chance but he seems to have given up.
Who exactly is Ortiz falling behind? It would seem that if Ortiz fell, someone else rating rose.

Povetkin-Hammer was a real boring fight, not looking forward to watchng him again tbh but dude is tough and has ring smarts. I can see Hammer making Ortiz look slow, old and taking him the distance just like Kaufman did. Surprised they didn't get someone better or at least someone who would make Ortiz look good as this could be a dull one.

He was given a shot because he was ranked well and no one wanted to fight him and to this day you will not find Parker, Whyte, AJ, Brazier, or Miller anywhere near him. There’s a good reason why you see the fans of the afore mentioned boxers yapping constantly “what has he done? Who has he fought? Bring nothing to the table”. It’s all BS and they know it. In fact if you aren’t 1 or 2 rated those same boring lines could be used for anyone. Ever see the top 10!rankings by all orgs? They are a HILARIOUS joke

What a ****** comment. How is he overrated? He calls out the big names and none of them answer besides Wilder. It's a good stay busy fight for him.
Dillan Whyte plays a disappearing act when his name is mentioned.

You won't them fighting me either. Nor my mum. Doesn't mean they're scared of me (or my mum).
