and after floyd left TR that fight wasnt getting made for the reasons i explained....arum wasnt feeding any of his guys to take an L from the guy that left his company.....floyd/cotto got made easily once cotto got free from arum when he did

you line up a row of 6-7 names of guys he didnt fight...or didnt fight at a time when you wanted.....and thats the problem with boxing fans...when they dont like a guy they will always line up guy they didnt fight...heres a newsflash he couldnt fight them all and he couldnt do it consecutively....its not feasible....so he let some of them sort themselves out and they did......and fought what was left

take your favorite fighters and apply the same standards.....take loma or whoever you like and put 6-7 tough/dangerous guys in a row...i bet youll say "well no is taking back to back tough fights now...and plus he had surgery".........
Show me where Cotto said I wasn't ready for Floyd...Gatti wasn't all that he was a brawler, not in the class of Cotto. Gatti got beat by Manfredy, Ivan Robinson (twice), Mickey Ward, Oscar (this was a mismatch in size). in all these loses he took a lot of beatings. So Floyd fought Gatti after Gatti had all these horrible loses. And you think Cotto said he wasn't ready cause floyd beat Gatti....Trainers in the boxing world happen to see thru this crap....

but wont apply that standard to your favorites...."oh he had surgery...oh he deserves a light touch he just had a tough fight no one takes tough back to backs"
      Curt,
No...no one wants Floyd to fight 3x...blah blah, that's not the point. The point is that he quit while the division was heated up with lots of worthy fighters around.

and yes floyd let some of them sort each other out....you cant fight everyone....its not feasible....hold todays faves of yours to that standard too
          Curt,
I admire Floyd more than you can imagine, but he left the game when there was all this history to be made....He quit the game at the height of a very hot welterwgt division....

Margarito, Cotto, Mosley...all money fights. Now don't get it confused with the type that floyd made when he fought Canelo, Cotto, & Pac years later. That money was on another level. Nut there was good money for the aforementioned fighters.

I said Cotto. Maybe Mosley but he wasn’t fighting at WW at the time. But nobody was giving Floyd 20 million to fight Margarito. You have to remember this is post Oscar and Hatton.

                Timeline:

                2007:

Floyd (WBC / Lineal Champ) beats Oscar and Ricky Hatton.
Margarito loses to Paul Williams (WBO Belt)
Cotto (WBA Champ) beats Zab and Mosley

                2008:

                Floyd "Retires"
Paul Williams loses to Carlos Quintana (WBO Belt)
                Margarito beats Cotto (WBA Belt)
Paul Williams beats Quintana (WBO Belt)
                Paul Williams moves to 154
                Clottey wins vacant IBF belt

                2009:

                Mosley beats Margarito (WBA Belt)
Cotto wins vacant WBO belt (beats Clottey)
                Pacquiao beats Cotto (WBO Belt)
                Floyd returns against Marquez

                2010:

                Floyd beats Mosley (Lineal title)

                Floyd vs Pac saga begins.

Mayweather for whatever it's worth missed out on prime versions of Margarito, Paul Williams, and Miguel Cotto which at the time would've been his toughest match ups to date.

YES!!! LOOK at This...This is gospel!!!

what youre saying is essentially that you want someone like spence to fight brook, porter, danny, thurman and crawford all within 2 years.........if you think about its really what you are saying

the division was heating up but theres no way he was going to fight them all within the 1.5 or so year layoff...so he let some of themselves sort themselves out...plain and simple.....

So you are justifying that it's ok not to fight Mosley, Cotto & Margarito because they won't make $20 million? I mean at time you wasn't gonna make $20 million fighting anybody not named Oscar....
Bottomline he should have fought them...but he quit!
