Hopkins speaking like a promoter, but I can't think of many worse match-ups than Canelo against Lemieux, who has to lost to every half decent fighter.

If Canelo fights Lemieux it will be at a 168. I can’t see a commission renewing his license for 160. There will be detractors in industry throwing a wrench to commissions making a 160 fight if GBP tries to justify that there was good reason why Lemieux failed to make weight, even though most know he has a hard time... this is why 168 is highly likely.
Just watch, if it’s 168, many Lemieux fans will hype this fight saying “now this is Lemieux that is dangerous..” etc..
I don’t mind it if its at 168. Though Canelo should be unifyingComment

If Golovkin won both fights all of industry and boxers TILL THIS DAY would want the trilogy and there would be 10x more debunking videos of rounds where GGG beat Canelo. They don’t exist because they were close fights, and Canelo took GGG to a true area of prizefighting at the highest level where the Kazakh initially just flung jabs in the first fight with an unfortunate high percentage of missing... looked really bad considering GGg’s PedigreeComment

Canelo was already asked on a Radio show if he'd like to fight Lemieux and he explicitly said NO.
I'm just paraphrasing but he said that Lemieux was a loser, a fighter that when stepped to the plate lose, so he wasn't attracted at all to fight him.
Being honest I just don't see him fighting Lemieux next, Alvarez is a very proud guy and he knows he'll be burned if the fights Lemieux next.
The fight that almost everyone is pushing for May is Jacobs so I hope they unify by that date.Last edited by batista84; 01-06-2019, 12:17 PM.Comment

some people talking here like canelo owes lemieux something, or like he is more important for gbp than canelo him self... lemieux isnt a big fight for anyone and canelo doesnt give a shyt about him, how many years is been since we heard lemule was next ? and people still feeding that shyt... if anyone ever hears canelo say i want lemieux next then bring on the crap, until then is really more of the same shyt we had for the last 3 years now, which is nothing but bs...Canelo was already asked on a Radio show if he'd like to fight Lemieux and he exñlicitly said NO.

You’re forgetting that Lemieux became one of Canelo’s WBA mandatories when he KO’d O’Sullivan. The matchup was sanctioned as a final eliminator for the winner of Canelo/GGG 2. Also, Rob Brant is the regular WBA MW champ, so he can call for his mandatory shot @ Canelo as well. Anyhow, Charlo has a mandatory due and that is GGG not Canelo @ this time and even if that fight doesn’t go thru I wouldn’t be surprise if the WBC allowed the WBA mandatory to take precedence. So Charlo gonna have to wait his turn Canelo’s the A side he calls the shots now.Comment

Ha well I doubt he is now at any road, but I was speaking in general terms... it's entirely possible he was before Lemieux flattened him. I provided those lists just as an example of how many no-name guys you do actually find in the orgs' top 10s.
Nah. It's just been my observation that promoters are much like politicians in that they almost never say **** which can be exposed unambiguously as a lie... They'll obfusticate, twist the truth beyond all recognition, embellish, mislead and use any and all other types of verbal chicanery, but rarely tell a direct untruth.
Could be wrong though. Maybe 'Nard actually is telling straight up porkies on this occasion.Comment
