If Canelo fights Lemieux it will be at a 168. I can’t see a commission renewing his license for 160. There will be detractors in industry throwing a wrench to commissions making a 160 fight if GBP tries to justify that there was good reason why Lemieux failed to make weight, even though most know he has a hard time... this is why 168 is highly likely.

Just watch, if it’s 168, many Lemieux fans will hype this fight saying “now this is Lemieux that is dangerous..” etc..

There ain't such thing as 'many Lemiuex fans', man. He's a fun, exciting boxer to watch when he's matched well, and seems like a genuinely nice dude, but no-one is gonna give him a snowballs chance except possibly by an improbable hail Mary. There was some (a little) hype around him back in 2013 - 14 when he'd been on a bit of KO run, but the Saunders fight is too fresh in everyone's minds right now.

That said, as I commented earlier, that doesn't necessarily make it an awful fight either and there is something to the fact that Lemieux has been draining like hell to make 160 for a few years.... he probably will be stronger and whilst I think his size will be a liability against most of the guys at 168 against Canelo that shouldn't be an issue. Should be a fun fight as long as it lasts.

David is probably the poster boy for extreme weight loss in boxing these days. I don't think he should be fighting bs fights at 160 let alone a big fight. Its a risk to himself health-wise & its a risk to GBP money-wise. Move this mfer to 168 all f#cking ready.

I don't have a problem with Canelo vs. Brant, Canelo vs. Jacobs, Canelo vs. Andrade, Canelo vs. Charlo, Canelo vs. Benavidez, Canelo vs. Zurdo, or Canelo vs. Callum Smith! Canelo vs. Lemieux is no bueno! I would accept Canelo vs. Munguia, more than Canelo vs. Lemieux @ 168! Honestly, I'm cool with Canelo vs. Lemieux @ 168, so long as he gives up that strap!

And then you got the sh^tty task of canceling the fight, coming up with a late sub or having your cash cow fight a heavy guy who while limited still punches hard enough to have a shocking upset if things were to line up right for him or wrong for Canelo.

There are a lot of Canelo fans that think I'm hating on him, because I've advocated that he be stripped, if he chooses to fight another non-champion, instead of Jermall Charlo! I like Canelo, and he has fought many tough fighters, way more than GGG! So I don't have a problem if he (and Oscar) wants Lemieux (and that Canada cash) in May! Go for it! Just do it without that WBC Green Belt!
