True. 168 was a weak division filled with Euro guys until Ward came along.

Yea, I wonder how highly rated the super six would be if he hadn’t participated.

We all know damn well it would be considered trash if Ward wasn't involved.

Kov is a racist arrogant áśśhole but he did step up multiple times to fight the best, if there was no one in his division unlike ggg I doubt he would stay, he’d likely move up to cruiser cuz he kills himself to make 175 anyways!

Ggg waited for Floyd, Pacman, Cotto and Canelo to move up an fight him while he knocking out bin collectors and guys on house arrest!

Kov fought Ward twice while ggg ducked him!

He thought he could wait out a smaller fighter with a name and knock them out an be a superstar but it backfired embarrassingly!

He got gifted a draw against Canelo in the first fight when he was being outboxed and outlanded in harder punches and then in the rematch got Mexican styled on by getting walked down by the smaller man and all he could offer was the occasional uppercut or once an a blue moon hook and thousands of weak touch jabs while getting his face rearranged!

            Kov has the superior resume

Pascal, Cleverly, Campillo and Hopkins > Jacobs, Lemeiux, Brook and Vanes!

By the time he KOed Lemieux Ward was fighting at 175 with no intention of returning to 168. Ducking Ward is a myth started by Ward lovers and GGG haters. Kovalev fought at 175 his entire career just as GGG fought at 160. GGG fought Jacobs and Canelo and Kovalev never fought anyone better or even as good pfp as those two. Kovalev has been stopped twice and knocked down several times. GGG has only one very debatable loss and has never been knocked down. Kovalev and GGG are both fearless fighters but GGG is a much better fighter with a much better record.
The offer wasn't for an immediate fight though, so it wouldn't have messed with the Lemieux fight at all. It was for a fight down the line sometime after

Golovkin has the better resume and is clearly the better fighter

The offer was I believe for 1 fight each first and then to meet each other in their next fight after that. Given the timing that would have meant Golovkin fighting Lemieux in his first PPV then fighting Ward presumably some time in early 2016.

He could have done it, of course, but he had also been named mandatory to the Cotto / Canelo winner so had to make a decision on which direction he wished to take. For better or worse he ultimately elected to stay at 160 and await the outcome of the Cotto / Canelo fight.

Ward made his offer in late July, at virtually the same moment the Lemieux fight was announced, but since the Cotto - Canelo fight wasn't til late November, Golovkin / Loeffler really didn't have the luxury of being able to wait and see since Ward was under his own time pressure (to get his HBO contract sealed), though of course GGG may not have known this.

Maybe they could have negotiated some but in the end it seems they had already decided on the plan of pursuing the WBC belt prior to Ward sending the offer and saw no need to change direction... comments from Froch (who said that Loeffler no longer seemed interested in making the fight at 168 and speculated it was because GGG might be looking at a catchweight for Canlo or Cotto) suggest that at this point they weren't looking at moving up at all, for Ward or anyone else.

Not really a fair statement to make both Kov & Golovkin took calculated risks like every other fighter

Props to Kov for being a road warrior. But fighting B-hop when he was a senior isn’t exactly a great win

His big PPV fight was against Ward a fighter who moved up like Canelo did to Golovkin , Ward who was probably the P4P at the time still had been relatively inactive in previous years ,both Ward /Kov were prime when they fought . Canelo purposely aged Golovkin unlike Canelo ward actually Deserved the Wins against Kov u

Kovalev's resume consist of ancient B Hop and Pascal who's average. That's it. Even Daniel Jacobs win looks better than that. And don't mention Ward, doesn't matter how close or controversial the fight was, losses doesn't matter in resumes
