Is Canelo deserving of “Legend” status at 28?

As far as I'm concerned, Canelo has done nothing yet to warrant HOF. His loss to Floyd was absurd. Not even competitive. Floyd is known for brittle hands, holding and running away. Outside of McGregor fight, that was stopped, (exhaustion) rather than hurt, which is another thread by itself, he hasn't knocked out anyone, don't count the cheap shot "one/two" punch combination when Ortiz wasn't looking as a legit knock out. Canelo much younger, much bigger should have walked Floyd down, and wailed away at him. Floyd was 40 Canelo 23 at the time. Canelo with his sheer size should have made Floyd fight him off 90 seconds of each round. Wear him down and then put him away. Nothing Floyd threw should have kept Canelo at bay. Unless Floyd paid him off. That's purely conjecture on my part. But this is boxing we are talking about. So I wouldn't put it past Floyd. Money could say, a loss to me would not blemish your record. I'm the self proclaimed GOAT and you are still learning. So take and extra amount X dollars and call it good. Your time will come. Money makes his own rules, forearms across opponents face and neck when on the clinch, cheap shots, and don't forget he didn't even try to make weight, nor put up any excuse when he paid Dinamita $50,000 for not making weight for their fight. He just smiles, and hands over $50K. So he fought Dinamita at much bigger weight than he should have. GOAT? HAH! Smartest boxer, best boxer, self promoter, wife beater, Check! Greatest of all time? NOT!! Ill give Canelo props for a great fight with GGG. He should have fought like that against Money. Then I'd say yeah he is well on his way. So in my eyes, Canelo has a lot to prove yet if I am to give him the nod at HOF consideration.

I don't think he's legendary at all yet. He hasn't had a signature win that makes legends. You can say GGG wins but they were close and not dominant enough to make it a legendary performance. I'd ask for KO win for that.

People being hard on him with Mayweather however are wrong. Mayweather took the fight when Canelo was green as f**k. The dude had zero experience to take on Mayweather and Jr. knew that. He also knew that by getting Canelo who brings in the $$$ during Mexican PPV time and lacked experience, it was the perfect opponent for him. Business man as usual.

I know Pac fans will never recover from the humiliation Paccquaio suffered at the hands of Floyd and then the embasssing lies Manny used as excuses, but that win over an undefeated Nelo was great great win.

No. Was schooled by Mayweather. Arguably lost to Golovkin twice (at least once for sure) and to Lara. Struggled with an old, undersized Cotto and even with Trout. Very good fighter but hes never beaten a prime great fighter without controversy. He largely benefits from favorable judging.

Struggled with Cotto and Lara and Trout? He cruised during those fights.

Oh ok, yes, he struggled chasing Lara around the ring given the chicken shiiit kept running away, literally.

He schooled Trout and even knocked him down.

Yea 43 fights with ZERO amatuer experience.

Think about that.

There are pros coming in with 100/200 amatuer fights.

Canelo didnt have any of that.

Buffer was probably told to say that. I don't think he is legendary yet but he is getting close. I don't think he needs to clean out 168 to get there. He isn't a 168 pound boxer. He is a middleweight. A few more impressive wins over top middleweights should get him to that legendary level. If he did beat Callum Smith that would probably make him a legendary champion but What if Smith beats him? He is now a little less legendary.

Canelo won a split decision by a tiny margin of a single point in Canelo loving Vegas on a show put on by Canelo's promoter. Is that your idea of domination? If the fight had been in London or Paris or Berlin with good honest judges GGG would have won a UD both fights.

As for the topic, I dunno. Yes and no. I mean taking his age into account especially in today’s landscape, he’s got an unreal resume compared to people his age.

Canelo has shown us he’s been at the top level for a really long time and hes barely 28. Legendary doesnt equal atg so I aint mad. Deontay is legendary (as a puncher), etc. I’ll give props..

Spot on����. Aside from one sided lose to Floyd,Canelo should have lost to GGG and Lara.

I think he lost to GGG but not to Lara. He damn near chased Lara out of the ring and landed the better harder punches coming forward not running like a scared rabbit.
