Is Canelo deserving of “Legend” status at 28?

So Michael Buffer introduced Canelo as “El Legendario Campion Mundial” which translates to “The Legendary World Champion” at the start of the Rocky Fielding fight. At 28 yrs old I definitely see Canelo as a Hall of Famer already but a legend probably not yet. Although, Canelo is a 3 Division world champion and has fought 5 fights against 4 HOF’s (Mayweather, Mosley, Cotto, GGGx2) I can’t put him in JCC Sr. or Salvador Sanchez legendary level. If Canelo where to conquer the 168 lbs division either with W’s against the likes of Callum Smith, David Benavidez or even to a lesser extend Zurdo then Canelo should be considered the legendary world champion, thoughts?

Wait...you dont think theyre HOFers? Yikes.

Theyre EASY HOFers. Not even up to debate.

As for the topic, I dunno. Yes and no. I mean taking his age into account especially in today’s landscape, he’s got an unreal resume compared to people his age.

You know what? Sure. I’ll give the ginger his props. He’s a def hofer already and is supposed to be in his prime (though sometimes I wonder. He’s not a typical 28 year old hes been around a while at a high level. His knees seem to be of concern, ish like that. Those camps for all those 12 rounders are tough).

But yeah. He’s legendary. I wouldnt be mad if they said it about Loma either or Rigo at 22. Gatti was legendary for example. Canelo has shown us he’s been at the top level for a really long time and hes barely 28. Legendary doesnt equal atg so I aint mad. Deontay is legendary (as a puncher), etc. I’ll give props..

He’s certainly got the best resume in the sport right now outside Manny and he’s only 28. If Canelo has a dominant next 8 or so years he’s going to deserve all time status. I think he’s got a ceiling of top 15 all time.

Crazy thing is that he is clearly improving every fight.

course not. and doubly so with GGG, hes been in one division all this time won ONE title.

Canelo won 2 titles at MW, 2 titles at LW.

Thast four times the difference from GGG. Obviously Canelo holds a MUCH stronger case for HoF than GGG's, but then you need to figure in Canelo has a possible drug abuse case which take him down a peg. Even with that hes still a stronger case that a one title guy.

Cotto is possible to, if I'm not wrong hes won titles at three weights? edit - no its 4...

A lot of people will refuse to admit it, but being schooled by the severely undersized Mayweather is enough to keep him out of the top 15 all time, no matter what he does from here on out.

How could Canelo be a legend if his biggest wins were all controversial?

Not to mention the Mayweather schooling.
