If you own a bar and want to show a Sky PPV, it's not just the standard PPV cost. Maybe it's the same in USA too, i guess so.

The cost is well into the hundreds just for a PPV event and a yearly Sky Sports subscription costs around £15,000 a year for a bar.

I'd imagine DAZN will do the same in USA if they pick up enough sports for a bar to pick up their service.
In the US, bars pay a certain amount per person allowed at maximum firecode capacity. For example MayPac was like $30 per firecode capacity. So if a bar can hold 3000 people under firecode it can be pretty expensive.

DAZN has a partner Integrated Sports Media that is going to sell their bar packages.

But what's to stop a bar from simply streaming it off their one DAZN app, I have no idea..

narcos=id love to see the budget on that....not the most extravagant show...but I bet its not cheap

they also just did a new crime thriller with ben Affleck and a pretty all star cast which I'm sure wasn't cheap...it isn't out yet

big budget movies are usually backed by investors....
That's true, but in the case of Netflix, they have over 100 million subscribers, so they're getting a return on investment. It took them many years to reach that however. I agree their growing debt is a problem especially with rising interest rates though.

Well, there will be public licensing laws that could get them sued.

Plenty of bars show sports "illegally" i.e projections from a stream or whatever but they will get a huge fine if they get caught. If you read the small print of your contract from a PPV or your cable package or whatever, it'll state that it's not to be used for public events or in public places that is deemed for making profit

Plenty do it and run the risk, most probably get away with it.

Sure, but who knows how much ability ISM has to police and enforce vs rogue commercial establishments..

Well that's why some people run the risk.

I know that most "proper" established bars in the UK won't run that risk. Too much inspection going on these days. The fines are huge, here anyway.

One guy in the UK got an £85,000 fine just for streaming his PPV purchase of a Joshua fight so his friends could watch it on Facebook live.

So lord knows what the fine for a bar would be for illegal streams or whatever.

Yeah they are definitely on the lookout in the US as well. Especially for the big $ events. The next step is shutting down illegal streams online which is going to be a focus in the future for sure..

At the very worst, I have expressed a desire for certain PPVs to fail because they are overcharging customers for a ****ty fight card. But otherwise, no. I don't really do that kind of thing.

If the numbers are low then Canelo with his 375 million dollar contract is going to face some real competition.
It is not going to be easy ride for Canelo and he is gonna have to earn that money

DAZN should force Canelo to learn English, he could easily be a crossover star. Make some appearances on some US talk shows speaking English and all the casuals will jump all over him. He's a good looking whiteboy who can easily deliver the highlight KOs fighting bums. Yeah the political climate right now in the US is very anti-Mexican because of the Trump administration, but I'm sure most of these rednecks are only against the browner Mexicans.
