Douglas never again got in shape to contend. He makes TYsons longevity look like Wlad K's.

Starching out a fattie would be pointless unless your name is Klitschko and then starching a fattie is a great defence.

Buster knocked out Mike Tyson when Mike Tyson was in his prime; excuses from his people notwithstanding.

Err, MIke was no longer in his prime then.
Don King got a hold of him and fired Kevin Rooney.
Mike's prime was fighting every 3 months or less.
        That was Cus D'Amato's plan.
Keep him active and keep him away from trouble .

Actually Mike Tyson was only 23 years old when he got knocked out by Buster Douglass; prime of his career and it didn't matter.

Some people just don't want to accept that Mike Tyson wasn't some type of indestructible force of nature but mainly a bully that when he met someone that actually bullied him, he crumbled.

And when someone figured out Douglas threw his uppercut from the outside, he was done.

Was Buster in the prime of his career when Holyfield made him quit ?

--- Sounds you got bullied a lot when you boil boxing down to your limited playground understanding.

If you can't see that Mike was no longer mentally prime after being diagnosed mentally ill and put on powerful experimental psychiatric sedatives, I'd gather you'd like fighters with frontal lobotomies in the ring to disparage and throw garbage at.

The reason why there was no return rematch was because by 1990; Holyfield was the mandatory no.1 contender at the time. Therefore, they allowed Tyson a voluntary defense that was meant for Evander Holyfield.

The James Buster Douglas fight should have rightfully gone to Holyfield but Don King; Tyson's promoter at the time pulled some strings with the sanctioning bodies to allow for a voluntary defense before Tyson was to inevitably defend his crown against Evander Holyfield.

So the sanctioning bodies agreed that the winner of the Tyson/Douglas bout would make a mandatory defense of the crown against Holyfield for the heavyweight championship of the world.

Seems that you've lived your life as a prison wife.

                    How do you enjoy that?

People want to continually make excuses for Mike Tyson when the bottom line is that Buster beat the heck out of him.

Teddy Atlas has some views on the subject-
