I don't understand it either. That was one of the best 152 pound wins of all time.
How come mayweather doesn't get much credit for beating Canelo?

He doesn’t??? A lot of people consider it the best performance and best win of his career. I certainly doComment

I always wondered why they had it at 151 (was it 151 or 152?) because he still came in over 160 on fight night...Would 154 made that much of a difference?Comment

Floyd gets plenty of credit, but he'll never get full credit due to catchweight and age. That's how it works. You ask for advantages, you don't get full credit.
If Canelo fought anyone half decent in his Caneloweight days, he wouldn't get credit for them either.Comment

Do you really think Canelo was the same fighter five years ago that he is today? There is a reason Floyd won’t rematch him today.Comment

Floyd never got credit for beating anybody lol. doubt it bothers him though. all his opponents turned old or green immediately after he beat them. before the Canelo fight he was accused of ducking and some had picked Canelo by KO. this is easily verifiable with some googling. never mind the fact Floyd was already past his prime and essentially washed up in 2013. for him to shut out and embarrass a young seasoned champion was a massive statement.Comment

Hilarious how folks just made up their myths about the fight after the fact. Let's address them:
1. Floyd cherry picked Canelo. Um, actually GBP became vocal about that fight AFTER it appeared Floyd had slowed down and when he touched up vs Cotto. Canelo called Floyd out not the other way around.
2. Canelo was 21 or 22 years old. This is the best one of them all. No idea why some weirdos on purpose take a year or two away from his actual age the day of the fight. Canelo was 23 years old yet they will say he was 21 or 22. Why? So damn weird that this always gets said. Btw, Hearns was 22 years old when he fought SRL and Floyd was 23 years old when he fought Chico, his best performance ever.
3. Clearly Canelo was weight drained. What made him so weight drained vs Floyd? Granted, any time there is a catchweight, the A side puts themselves in position to get criticized. But how exactly was Canelo weight drained? Was he not able to take punches better? Did he tire out faster than usual? Answers to those two questions are no. Canelo was not once ever hurt and actually had more energy late in the fight compared to previous fights. He also threw way more punches vs Floyd than he did vs Trout a fight prior.
Those that are going to hate on Floyd are obviously going to hold on to anything and will downplay anything he does. That was a very good win for Floyd and one of the best high level performances in the last 15 years. Canelo's style was tailor made for him though. Canelo is a natural counter puncher who likes to sit back but you aren't going to beat Floyd in that game. He is just quicker, faster, smarter and flat out better. Canelo is THAT dude and the fight made him a better fighter. Getting schooled like that isn't a bad thing. Hence, why I don't understand why Tank doesn't fight Lomachenko. He's not getting hurt that fight and worst case he loses a wide decision. Personally I see it being competitive but still that is a fight that improves Tank in the long run.Comment
