How come mayweather doesn't get much credit for beating Canelo?

40 fights and already a champion don’t go hand in hand with “no experience” lol

The perspective is pretty crazy. I do think Canelo got better since then but it's not like he's an entirely different fighter. I criticize a lot of things about Floyd as a person, but he was a hell of a fighter. Completely clowned a kid who many are now are putting in the top 3 p4p. Not to mention Floyd was much smaller.

40 fights with a belt doesn’t go hand in hand with “no experience”
If floyd didn’t fight him at that time he’d be called a duck by almost everyone here, but when he fought him it’s called taking advantage. He was 35 and declining at that time how long was he supposed to wait for the champion?
The reason it was the 3rd biggest fight ever was because haters thought he’d win and has a chance.
We can only compare them now base on their primes, and canelo hasn’t reach the level of Floyd yet. Canelo might win in fantasy because of the size difference but pound for pound i still ain’t giving him much of a chance.

Bash Floyd all you want for the catchweight, but let’s not pretend that everyone didn’t want that fight during that time, the fans did, Canelo did, Oscar dela hoya did. Especially as pacquiao just got KTFO by marquez, they all jump to Canelo.

If you can't tell the difference between a 21 year old Canelo and a prime Canelo. YDKSAB.

It's like a 21 year old Kobe and a prime Kobe. Day and Night.

People dont get that the Floyd fight made him better.

Lets say they fought 3 years later at 154. Canelo wouldnt have had that floyd fight that made him better. Same out come.

Canelo doesnt use his size. He boxed Khan, he boxes everybody. He CANT outbox floyd.

Floyd - faster hands, feet, reflexes, better defense, reach, stamina
Canelo - bigger power, bigger size (not utilized), youth (but inferior stamina and reflexes)

Canelo would never beat floyd pre retirement. He loses to 2015 38 year old Floyd. He could beat a 40 or 41 year old floyd whose reflexes have declined significantly.

You are aware that Floyd is 42 years old right?

People hate because it's Mayweather and it was a catchweight. Nevermind that Canelo weighed 153 in his previous fight before Floyd. In reality it was a 36 year old welterweight in there versus a young prime opponent who was most likely 15 pounds bigger come fight night

See that's not fair. I'm not denying that he was anywhere as polished as he is now, but he was still destroying boxers left and right.

Mayweather was the MUCH smaller man and much older than canelo. One could not fault mayweather if he decided to not fight him as he would clearly be at a size disadvantage, but he fought him anyways and put on a spectacular display.

Just doesn't seem fair that he doesn't get much respect for that fight, when on paper, it was a very dangerous fight.

Funny how u only point out that part. Like I said everybody was asking for it at that time. Always a lose-lose for floyd with u guys. And im not even a big fan.

Fight the guy its called taking advantage. Dont fight the guy its called duck. Nothing he can do with you guys.

Ofcourse they can’t meet prime to prime as they’re from diff eras. We can breakdown every superstars careers and we can find an example of that. You think a 22 yr old floyd with 40 fights can beat a 35 year old canelo if they’re the same size? You bet he can.

Like I said you can criticize him all you want for the catchweight, but the timing? There’s nothing more we can do about that.

I’m just seeing it a neutral light. Try it some time spoon.

                      'Nelo was just a baby.'

The reality is Canelo was a unified 154 lb. champion (with 6 WBC defenses) and he also held the RING belt. He had victories over Trout, Mosley, Cintron, Baldomir, and Miguel Vazquez (twice). Immediately defeated Angulo and Lara within a calendar year of losing to Mayweather.
