Correct. Landing 11 versus 4 in round three isn't insignificant. The Mexican chap scored it to Wilder.

Warren has said he's asked the British Boxing Board to write to the WBC and ask for them to investigate.

I wonder if this was just embarrassing enough for a boxing body to do something about it. Not change the result, but to admit what goes on.

The only thing I can think is that the judges are told what they should be looking for. One to judge it, two to look for each fighter.

Even coming from two KDs against Wilder is enough for Fury to win this fight. Who has done that against Wilder. Fury beat Wilder and was robbed. Wilder should be ashamed that the California judge had to help him retain his belt. More, it would be disgraceful if Fury is not given an immediate rematch.

Exactly. It comes down to these three possibilities:

1. People are listening to the announcers and aren't closely watching the fight. If the announcers are biased then they think something is happening in the ring that clearly isn't.

2. They have their favorite and only see what they want to see.

3. They don't understand boxing scoring. Almost everyone who thinks Fury won talks about defense and ring generalship. Defense is only important if it leads to offense much like aggression is only rewarded when it's effective. Ring generalship isn't very important when neither guy is connecting. With, on average, 13 punches a round connecting, trying to figure out who has the cleaner, harder shots is going to come down to only 1 or 2 punches a round.

With so little to separate the fighters in any given round, it's no small wonder that the scoring was difficult and came out the way it did.

I do find it highly ironic though that some of the biggest complainers are the same ones who thought Kovalev got robbed in much the same manner against Ward. Kovalev had a couple big rounds and Ward won his by ever so slight margins in others and they claimed Kovalev won the fight. Wilder had a couple of big rounds and Fury won his by ever so slight margins and they claim Fury won the fight. Can't have it both ways, folks.

Though I agree with your major points. I really don’t see this to be anything close to kovalev-ward. Kov was atleast boxing ward at times, as Wilder just looked confused there and was trying damn hard to land.

If you take away Wilder's two knockdown rounds, he only landed 47 punches at 13% connect percentage.

Those two rounds accounted for 1/3 of his entire landed fight output.

It just goes to show you how dependent he is on power. Not a good boxer.

Also goes to show how Fury just shuts fighters down. He is a master at neutralising his opponents best attributes. Wilder is depending on his power and Fury know that. Previously he landed around 50% of his shots but against Fury around 15%. Tyson dictated the fight and was the boss in there.

If he had just of boxed defensively in that last round he would have won despite the poor scoring.

Everyone knows Fury bossed the fight, made Wilder miss badly throughout and controlled him apart from the two knock-downs.
