He's too quick, so whenever he loses concentration even for a moment he becomes predictable, and can't make adjustments fast enough on the fly. He got caught against Linares because he was thinking what he's gonna do 3 steps ahead, and when Linares threw an unexpected punch he couldn't bring his plans back to real time.

He may get caught the same way pac was against JMM..

Yep.. Marquez timed that amazing right hand well and the Pacman practically ran into it hard, in a timely fashion!

So what do you guys think? What are the holes?
I don't think he really lunged in when he got knocked down, he just stepped in and was out of position cuz linares had the angle. It was more of a lapse in judgment of distance and position.

One thing he does do is waste a lot of movement imo.

You know, I rewatched the fight the other day and I agree. Linares just caught him out of position which is hard to do. Yeah, he probably does waste movement and he will have to adjust that as he gets older. If he were 25, this wouldn't matter but the years will catch up before long unfortunately.

Yea he's about at his peak now. When he starts slowing down he'll probably start to put a bit more on his shots tho.

Coming straight from Amateur, Loma was surprised at how rugged salido's attacks can be--it's something he's never seen before. I think he has captured some information from the fight and sealed it on his data bank. I don't think that style can work as effective as before anymore. He's overall great in every aspect and has medium power.

I think his downfall would be is if he keeps moving up in weight and make a mistake of following Pacquiao's footsteps which many of the modern day boxers are desperately trying. He may find out that his already dwindling power is now a lot weaker than ever before, or that his speed is a couple of notch slower than it used to be. Then he may end up in a similar situation as Donaire as he keeps moving up who eventually hit the wall in Nicholas Walters, even Adrian Broner is more effective at lower weights than in welter. Of course, all of these possible outcomes remains to be seen as he is still continuously making adjustments on his journey as time goes by.

They did well blending that international amatuer style with a pro style but he still has spots that are too amatuerish. His natural talent helps him get away with it against lesser fighters. He'll stand in too long.

I was very disappointed in him after his shoulder surgery. You could tell he was under heavy influence of drugs and terrorizing the hospital staff.
