But im still not sure Lacy could have win.
Joe had a career night.

Joe doesn't spar or hit the bag much because of his brittle hands, it's sick. I don't know how he performs at the level he performs at with hardly any sparring to sharpen up, guy is amazing.
Joe's humble, still trains in his dad's shed! His training is old school, no weights, just running in the valleys, skipping, hitting double-end balls and speed balls, hitting pads, taking medicine ball hits to the stomach and doing some bodyweight exercises. By contrast Lacy and Dan Birmingham were using science - doing these medicine ball throws and weight exercises and sprints and ****, Lacy seemed all conditioning while Joe seemed all skill (and skill wins, man, old school).Last edited by JuicyJuice; 07-04-2006, 01:19 AM.

Joe does spar, but not much. I think he hits the bag maybe once a week or less.
Joe runs all year round, six days a week all year, due to him liking to start camp already in good shape because he says otherwise you don't get the right feel until you've lost the weight or something.

Man, everyone seems to rave about the skills Toney displays as old school sliping and ducking but it's nothing compared to what I saw with Calzaghe against Lacy.
I tell ya though, it's funny because Calzaghe does not have any single exceptional skill other than heart and stamina and brains. he's fast but not blazing, he hits hard enough to keep a guy off but not with tremendous power. he simply has a wonderful feel for the game and is a master of movement and angles.

He's fought so many good guys, Chrissy Eubanks, Woodhall, Charles Brewer, the kid from Alabama, now Jeff. That was wonderful (against Lacy), wonderful."
Too "dodgy"?
Was this taken during tea time while Jones was enjoying a nice crumpet?
LOL
Nice try Juyster.

Woodhall had elbow surgery, not shoulder. That's why he could never fully extend his right arm afterwards.

I guess we'll never know if Woodhall would of beaten one-eyed Julian Jackson for the title - Woodhall was kept on the WBC mandatory spot for almost 18 months by a certain Mr King! As soon as it was known that Woodhall was having shoulder surgery, all of a sudden King gave him his shot (and even the American commentators had Woodhall beating Holmes by three or four rounds, but the judges scorecards showed that he was going to be on the end of a robbery if he lasted the final round through the shoulder pain - which he didn't. I think that's one reason Calzaghe didn't go to America to fight - because Joe remembered his best friend Woodhall almost on the end of a robbery over there).Last edited by Cletus Funk; 07-04-2006, 06:57 AM.
