Even with fighters who are ducked throughout their career and looked upon as very high risk low reward, they still eventually get big shots at money and big title shots sooner or later. So Calzaghe is simply the exception to that rule? THe diamond in a the rough? Practically a mythical creature who is so godlike in the ring he can't be touched so every fighter avoids him?

Same old boring non sense Juy.
Calzaghe missed a number of fights in his own division over the years.
According to you and others like you that ride his sac, it was everyone's fault but Joe's.
The bottom line is that he sat in his own back yard fighting meidocre fighters almost his entire career.
He was in no position to be calling for fighters like Jones and Hopkins like he had a leg to stand on. He was an unproven homer who missed out on so many opportunities.
The notion that he's an avoided world beater who's been avoided all these years is pure fiction catered to you and the few like you who ride his sac.
The guy wasted the majority of his own career taking safe fights in his own back yard and never gave anyone a reason to regard him as an attractive opponent.
Get over it.
He had his first important big win earlier this year, and lets hope he builds on it. That's all there is to be said about him.

juicey i dont think anybody denies that calzaghe has proved himself now, there was always a doubt about him because he wasn't coming to the mecca then started pulling out of fights with injuries, but the last fight proved us all wrong, proved he wasn't a faker.
the only reason he got so much critics over here was simply because it was clear he was extremely talented but just would not come over here, and appeared to fake injuries etc, we felt he was a waster but now he's looking fighter of the year if he gets the winky fight.

bozo no no what planet are you on? calzaghe was the best supermiddle by miles on evidence of the brewer fight alone, he beat eubanks in spectacular fashion if im not mistaken so that alone put him in position to challenge rjj seeing as eubanks was being mooted for that fight. first time i saw joe c was the brewer fight and i thought it would be just another overrated euro fighter, but calzaghe showed some serious skills that night and proved he was the best supermiddle out there by a long way.
on evidence of his last fight he would of taken them all, rjj, hopkins or any other kind you got. sit down and watch the calzaghe-lacy fight very carefully bozo, then come back and say that he couldn't challenge rjj or hops or anybody for that matter.
