Well right now his hands are tied at the moment because he is in competition with DAZN and Eddie Hearn. Therefore, he is going to have to offer these guys pay per view purses in order to keep them happy and content.

In addition, now he finds himself in competiton with DAZN's deep pockets too; As Eddie Hearn continues to poach fighters from his stable. Besides, Dazn has a much bigger budget and could offer pay per view purses solely on its platform alone.

However, Showtime and Fox are unable to do that. In short, Haymon is doing whatever he deems necessary to keep his talent roster together and if that means offering them Pay per view then so be it.

And it doesn't take a business degree to see your stance is unsustainable. If thats Haymon's plan he's not as smart as I think he is. DAZN has a 8 year commitment to boxing thats putting out $191M+ a year for the first 5 years. Haymon is gonna need to do 5 years+ of PPV's if this is the plan. I suspect a monthly PPV is driving off fans before its putting DAZN out of business. TVKO, a monthly PPV model that later turned into HBO PPV, was something they did back in the day (Holyfield vs Foreman was there first fight, believe Toney's upset of Nunn was their 2nd fight). I think that lasted less then 2 years.

They have to do PPV's before Canelo does a huge DAZN fight because IMO that is going to make PPV almost a thing of the past.

I think you might get one big Floyd PPV and ten thats it. I think PPV is gonna be all but done soon.

They were talking about PBC PPVs before Canelo went to DAZN. Canelo is not gonna stop PBC or any one else's plans.

It is a dumb fight, mainly because Mares even struck me as being even too small to be a featherweight. At Jr. Lightweight he will simply be food for Tank.


I cannot blame tank for two reasons though. It is obvious he probably doesn't have a lot of dudes willing to fight him. And 2 he probably has no say in who he fights. He has been begging for a fight for a long time.

I honestly can't answer that question, because I haven't seen the entire PBC's 2019 schedule yet. However, the ones that I have heard about or been rumored to be have all been announced as pay per view fights; Which I agree sucks for the typical boxing fan. However, if I were to answer that question with only the knowledge I have now then the answer would be none.

Abner Mares is a very good fighter with a lot of skills.

I don't like this fight for two reasons: Abner is worn out like Groves and the size disadvantage is ridiculous. I want Davis to fight lightweights, junior welters, and even some old, semi worn out welters like the Pacman would be acceptable.

Gervonta is a big boy and should man up soon.

Gervonta too big, too fresh, too hungry for Mares but it'll still be a big name to have on his record. It might not be the greatest fight, but I just wanna see Tank a lot more active in 2019 & this is a nice start. Hopefully the fights only get bigger & bigger from here.
