I understand what are you saying and it is very true. However, they are strictly talking about actual sales and revenue here. Not the numbers or quantity of tickets actually sold. They haven't released those numbers yet. they are strictly focusing and talking about the amount of money the fight has sold in less than 30 minutes which was more than $1million.
Wilder vs. Fury sells $1 mil worth of tickets in first 25 minutes

if you werent interested in the topic being discussed, why did you reply? if my position was a response to someone else, you cant take my position and then try to change the context. But that wasn't what you and I were talking about, that was your retort to somebody making that claim. It only works when that is your reply to somebody making that argument, and i wasn't making it.
Ive stated nobody deserves plaudits for fighting a mandatory. That's our topic... that you and I are talking about.
I want you to tell me , as a counter to my opinion, someone deserves plaudits for fighting a mandatory using my thought process that wilder deserves his rank, and has fought opponents such as ortiz of a good level that shows he isnt a ducker.
why does he deserve a plaudit from me personally given my thought process?Comment

First off, your comparing this to the biggest fight commercially of all time. Let's compare it to a mid to upper mid level fight if anything. In comparison, I don't even think Canelo vs. GGG sold a million in tickets that fast.it certainly is possible if demand is high enough just not based on the way they release. for instance, pacuqiao and mayweather sold an estimated 1000 tickets in under 60 seconds, at that rate they'd have sold out MGM in less than 20 minutes.
it's all about how they release the tickets, who gets their handson them in the seconady market, how many tickets go to the venue or partnering hotels, etc.
Next, I don't think there's anywhere near the amount of ways to purchase tickets for this fight as there were for May-Pac. That obviously makes a huge difference.Comment

Basically a large quantity the high tier seats ($500+) have been sold off to a single vendor (So $1million dollars worth of seats which is a few hundred seats)
They then sell them off to celebs and what not
Nothing special or major here.Comment

Oh ok. No he averages about 900k to 1.4 million but that will go up a lot now that HBO is out of the game. Remember, HBO had been the most viewed boxing broadcaster for decades.Comment
-
Yes I can.. because you've made it clear you believe wilder deserves plaudits for taking that mandatory irrespective of context.Comment

Either way, that doesn't happen for every fight so it's at least a little special. I also expect it to sell out so there's that too.Comment

His biggest fight was Parker, which did 1,457 buys.
At $26 US (19.99 UK), thats a gross of $37.882 Million.
Cable companies take 55%, leaving $17.047 Million.
AJ got 67% of that, which is about $11.43 Million.
The gate was 10.4 Million, 67% of that is @ 7 Million.
I think 18M US is about right as his largest payday (20M if you throw in other crap like foreign TV rights, etc), nevermind all the fairytales some folks like to tell.
Both Wilder and Fury have a real chance to top that in December, tho it may just as well flop. Right now, it looks like they have a shot.
You're not adding the the fees that clubs, pubs and bars have to pay to show the ppv. That's usually around £300, and who knows how many of the 1.4m buys were the £300 fee. Just say 100,000 buys from those establishments, that grosses 30m.Comment

It's really not a big deal, fury is the undisputed champ and boxing's cash cow. The A side.Comment
