Ortiz's actual age is questionable, and he definitely was not the feared boogeyman of 5 years previous when he fought Wilder. However he was, and still is a quality operator. Age is not as much of a factor at HW as it is at lower weights as the decline is generally slower. Both Klitschko's still performed well at around 40, so does Povetkin. Pulev's no spring chicken either at 37, but would beat most of the younger contenders comfortably.
Looking at all the different ranking/ratings systems you could argue that on average at HW, a boxer doesn't even start to decline until at least 35/36 which would be considered ancient in any of the other divisions.
