Now he needs time to grow into the new division! That's not an excuse for putting it off at all, this is reality. Hatton is the one chasing Mayweather.

Billy Graham says he'd of taken the Mayweather fight instead of Maussa and been confident that Ricky would of beaten him (taking cuts away and the Warren debacle out of the equation), because he'd of still been on 'overdrive' from the Tszyu win. So I don't know if Mayweather made offers or what.

Listen I'm not even sure why we are all argueing here. We all want the same thing, the best fighters actually fighting each other. In ten years we dont want to read a Thread about "Who would've won, Hatton or PBF"....."Cotto or Hatton"....."Margarito or PBF"......etc etc.

My fear is that it will be similar to the situation that happend between many of the top middleweights in the 90's i.e. Eubank and RJJ etc...etc

            re blackjesus:
it was incredibly ****** and naive for you to say his management is treating him like a child. i'm sure you know; boxing is a business, first and foremost. maybe you are oblivious to the fact that promoters like to BUILD up a big fight and make maximum capital. once again, pro boxing is NOT about glory or legacy. if they happen, great. but that's just a by product. a managers job is to get the most reward with the least amount of risk for his fighter.

mayweather is doing it with margarito. hatton is doing it with castillo and arum is doing it to cotto. hatton is a star. he does not need to pay his dues anymore like say a castillo/corrales or a non-olympian has to do in order to get a title shot. he is a hot, hot commodity. all the legacy, what's right, what's wrong is just fan bull****.

pro boxing is a business. a down and dirty business and what it's about is making money and minimizing the risks.

honestly, why is team hatton taking this fight? a win over urkal gives ricky...what? this isn't a money generator. it's certainly not a challenge. and that's the problem here. if he has a sloppy fight, his stock drops even further. a good win gets little credit because people are expecting nothing less. if the collazo fight was a step forward, urkal is 2 steps back. bad decision by ricky's management.

Well, I just hope we can see a Hatton-Floyd or Hatton-Cotto fight in the near future...

I hope Cotto fights the winner of Gatti/Baldo on Dec 2nd and then fights Hatton or Floyd early 07.
