Very biased article. Only talks about what Golovkin did during the fight. Writers for other sports don't show this kind of bias that is rampant in boxing writers articles. Very unprofessional and misleads casuals into thinking what the writer wants them to believe.

BINGO! The writer fails to mention that by round 3 GGG was winded from that point until the end. He was huffing and puffing from the viscous body shots Canelo had laid onto him. The writer also convienently fails to mention that GGG built up the ever famous “fight stats” by doing nothing but jabbing. A jab alone with an occasional power shot will not win fights EVER and especially on this stage. Not only were Canelo’s shots harder but more impactful, showing on the face of his opponent and were constant. GGG threw occasional power shots and while some landed most Canelo rolled with.

the truth of the matter is even if we put these two fighting through eternity, we would get close calls every damn time.

And if they fought anywhere in Nevada, only Canelo would have a chance of getting the nod. That's the problem the writer is talking about.

Do you understand the difference between being backed up on the defensive and controlling distance with a jab and staying out of the pocket? If you think like that then Ali, Klitchko Sugar Ray should never of won a fight. How many times was Golovkin's back to the ropes covering up and not throwing??

Neither fighter retired to the ropes once the entire fight, part of the reason it was a classic. Ref played no part in the fight, no dirty tactics from either, nothing more than only momentary clinching, 2 great fighters matching each other punch for punch. Twas a classic.

And problem goes beyond Nelo too. I guess a couple of decades and counting and the dodgy 3 judge system remains (dodgy as it has shown itself not to work soooo many times).

Unlike 95% of the people *****ing about the outcome of this fight I actually watched it in a comfortable leather chair in a theatre full of other fans and no one complained of the outcome; not even the GGG fans because all knew they’d seen a great fight that could have gone either way. Yes this was a completely passive aggressive ***** ass article trying to play both sides of the argument while fully tilted to one side. It didn’t take much reading comprehension to get this after the first paragraph

Thank you. This article summarizes my feelings perfectly. It was a great fight and I take nothing away from Alvarez, but when I heard the scorecards I literally said, "What else does he have to do?"

There are lots of good fights out there for both fighters, but this has become worthy of a trilogy.

BUT:

I don't want to see this Vegas, nor do I want to see it in Texas. Keep it out of L.A. and New York too, where GGG is big. Go neutral ground to settle this once and for all. This rivalry has become big enough to sell out Wembley Stadium if they want to, or fill up the Tokyo Dome. Go international and create an even playing field.

Because if it stays in the States, it's hard to see one man or the other getting a decision without controversy, and these moves are impossible to knock out!

I'm with you on the But......

However, got to accept that III will be in Nevada, and I guess by extension that unless Golovkin knocks him out (or down a few times), it will be another Canelo points win (or Canelo stops Golovkin).

I'm fine with that, I just like seeing them fight - its a rare opportunity to see two elite guys who are so evenly matched go at each other. Not long till Golovkin is too old to keep it going (might even be as early as next May), so lets get it in while we can, wherever we can.
