I agree about everyone overreacting to his sluggish performance against a slick, southpaw, virtual junior middleweight. Hatton has had these before, and come back better. The Magee fight was really his first step up, and he got dropped, came back and won a bit of an ugly fight, and followed it up with better performances.

But the problem Hatton is facing now, is size. He's a small framed guy. Short reach and height for a welter in this day and age. There are welters he can beat, sure, just like there are welters that Floyd can beat. I think Floyd is a little better about picking them out and not fighting them (ie, dodging Margarito), whereas Ricky just jumps in with both feet, and sometimes when you do that you get an off night, which was still a win!

But I believe Hatton is too small-framed to successfully campaign at 147. Ricky is only 5'6 with a short reach, smaller-framed than both Mayweather and Margarito. I think Ricky can reign at 140, though, his natural weight. I don't see anyone beating him at 140 right now, unless it's on a cut stoppage, or head-butt TD, or something like that. But 147 is just too high for him. He can beat a bunch of welters, but eventually it will catch up with him.

As i said, it's not everyone, but quite a few it seems.

Most Americans had seen very little of Calzaghe before the Lacy fight. All that was known was that he had one big win against a faded Eubank (years ago), he had fought down to the level of his competition recently, and that he was notorious for pulling out of fights due to injury. That's reason that so many picked Lacy to destroy him, not because of any anti-UK bias, or the more absurd notion of anti-white bias that many have suggested in the aftermath of the asskicking that Calzaghe meted out to Lacy. Yes, there were some over the top insults hurled at Calzaghe, but we're talking about boxing fans on internet message boards for Christ's sake. That sort of thing isn't rare.

The guy is seriously good, you American's just haven't seen the best of him.
That's quite a change of direction, you seemed genuinely disgusted after the Collazo fight. I agree with you BTW.

Hatton went to Bulgaria and OUT-BOXED their best guys in 1995, and he OUT-BOXED the top guys at the world championships in 1996, and he BOXED in his early pro fights, and he OUT-BOXED Eamonn Magee and Ben Tackie when a lot of people felt he would lose those fights (under-rated his BOXING ability).

Hatton never clinched anybody in his life until towards the end of the Tackie fight.
Who the **** said he was going to lose to Magee and Tackie?!??!?
Stop making **** up, Juy Juy.
Hes a professional now, and is not a good boxer compared to others.
Cong****, he outboxed some dude from Bulgaria two years before he went pro.
                    Whop de doo!!!
If he tries to box with guys like Floyd Mayweahter, he will be eaten up.
If he tried to box with Zab Judah he would be eaten up.
He tried to box some of his fight with Collazo (a B level fighter at best) and almost lost the fight.
                    Please, PLEASE, just shut up.
