Canelo is coming from a lower division and you have people on here he's an ATG if he beats Canelo. Brook came from a lower division. There's a few names on GGGs resume who were coming from 154. It took Hagler 6 years to reach 49 fights, GGG is 36, been a pro for 12 years and has yet to even fight 40 times. Different times and eras. Will GGG move up and continue to fight tough names is the question
Will Golovkin retire as an all time great?

Why is it a question? Hopkins waited til he was 40. Hagler quit at 32. All these tests one guy has to pass while others get a pass is laughable.Canelo is coming from a lower division and you have people on here he's an ATG if he beats Canelo. If GGG breaks Hopkins' MW title fight defense record and unifies the division, he would easily be considered and ATG. No question for me.
But lets be honest......his style is not made for longevity and he's already slowing down. He don't have much more time to get a lot more done. He might have two years left in my opinion and it's all down hill from here.Comment

Question is, will GGG ever wanna go out of comfort zone? He could have to make a fight with Ward, could have to fight Canelo at under 160 a few years earlier. Will he be willing to move up later in his career like Hopkins did a beat top names in other divisions. People on here laugh at FLoyd being an ATG with his resume that is 100x better than GGGs but somehow those people believe GGG is an ATG for beating Jacobs ( who has never won a world title) and Canelo followed but lower tier fighters who never did anything.Comment

Others get a pass? Others achieve things to become ATGs at the end of their career. GGG's career isn't over, he still has time to prove he's an ATG, but people saying he's ATG already is foolish. GGG won't be considered an ATG in my opinion, I don't see him being able to continue fighting at a top level to achieve that status.Comment

Again, what did Hagler do out of his comfort zone? What did Hopkins do before 40 out of his comfort zone?Others get a pass? Others achieve things to become ATGs at the end of their career. Never said he would have gotten credit for fights he didnt get. But Haglers and Hopkins best wins at 160 are against guys who came from lower divisions, no? Hagler didnt get his title shot til his 49th fight. Then he quit the sport at 32 years old. Golovkin is fighting prime middleweights in his mid 30s. Why exactly would he not belong if he keeps winning? Hopkins didnt move up til he was 40. Doesnt seem to hurt his standing.
against all time greats! golovkin couldn't even get a convincing win over canelo alvarez! and what weights did he come from? his best win is danny jacobs! he is on the decline and you have to be blind not to see that!
difference here is that golovkin has done nothing, and those fighters have done something. again, you seem to be crediting golovkin for things he has not done. talk to me about what he's done, what tyhe five best MW ever have done, and why you think he is one of them
until then you will not be taken seriously, and nor should you! this is not a 20 year old prospect, or even a 25 year old in his prime. this is a guy who may very well never fight again if he loses his next fight.Comment

All time great is limited to five only? Since when? And who said he may never fight again? Seems like you are making up alot of stuff here.against all time greats! golovkin couldn't even get a convincing win over canelo alvarez! and what weights did he come from? his best win is danny jacobs! he is on the decline and you have to be blind not to see that!

Why the word cheated? Canelo took a loss to get to where he’s at. If you’re not worth the risk people won’t fight you, it’s golovkins job to make it worth fighting him. It took him and his team a while to pay Jacobs a decent amountAll time great is subjective & kinda bs so who cares. GGG was among the best of his day & looking at his career closer it seems he was cheated of the ability to reach his full potential by the best guys in his division not wanting to fight him at all or sooner than they did + his early promotional choices. But all you can be is the best of your time. Everything else is my dad can beat up your dad child-like bs.
And randomly as a fan of boxing I sorta hate how boxing works. The top guys in any division should be in a pool of fighters by themselves & there isn't any business or politics that can get in the way from the best reaching their max potential by fighting each other. Boxing at the tip top should be as competitive as staying in a starting position in the NFL. There are only so many slots & your position is always up for grabs if you get caught slipping or father time comes for your ass. I think if at some future date boxing does take on a more logical structure for fans, boxers & entertainment people will look back on these times as awful times for the sport overall.Comment
