im not rooting for hearn to fail.....but hes not going to swim with that lineup...and i just cant see it getting any better....nobody is gonna sign to fight on dazn unless they are the hookers and andrades of the boxing world...the only names he will get will be ex names that are near the end.....i just dont see it working for him in the states

    Nailed it.

    Nobody wants DAZN to fail.

What boxing fan would be against paying 10 bucks a month to get every big fight?

The problem, of course, is that $10 a month is not going to get the best fights.

It's not even going to get fights much better than those already offered on the channels many American sport fans already have included in their cable packages. None of his signed lineup so far is going to be a better fight than what's already on Showtime and HBO. Hell, DAZN may not be any better than FoxSports or the ESPN fights, and certainly is offering less so far than ESPN+.

So yeah, I actually am rooting for Hearn to win this one.

But, I aint betting on it...not at all.

Hearn got outbid in his first attempt. He's has a billion dollars and gets outbid by thousands. That right there tells you he doesn't have any confidence in his product. How does he plan to sell his low bid show? Less is best?

It's a guaranteed 2 year deal with an option of another 6. Even if it is just 2 years and gets bounced after that, that will be in excess of 300mill.

You are correct I don't know the escalators.

HBO has a boxing budget of less than 30mill and has rejected an Alvarez-Kovalev rematch. Kovalev is HBO's 3rd biggest attraction behind Canelo and GGG. Definately not bigger than DAZN.

Sho has a budget less than that at least this year in addition to fewer dates. Although admittedly I haven't seen the amount they have put up for their new 3 year PBC deal or the amount of dates. No idea if bigger than DAZN.

I don't know much about ESPN's new 7-year deal with Top Rank due to not being able to find much information on it, I know Bob took a small deal initially to get on there with greater exposure. No idea if bigger than DAZN.

In regards to DAZN has 16 dates just for Hearn in addition to the WBSS. The WBSS is something that was overlooked by HBO, SHO and ESPN which they could have picked up before DAZN came around and DAZN picked it up as an after thought. That gives us an indication of what their budget is like.

literally the only thing of any remote interest is watching AJ fight.....hes really all they have

nobody cares about mo hooker...nobody really GAF about Katie taylor...and Andrade? that's the same guy hearn fanboys were murdering for being a "waste" not long ago.....saying that golovkin would kill him...now all of the sudden hes some flagship fighter?!?! lol

imo the only thing he has going for him is AJ....so its no wonder hes trying hard to protect that while he launches this thing

nobody cares about hooker....the same guys that champion eddie hearns cause used to bash Andrade nonstop...now hes some guy that's going to take this app to the promised land???

his lineup literally has no one interesting aside from AJ...

hearn thought he could swoop in and take some of al's guys.....hearn thought what he knew als guys were getting paid was what they were getting paid...he didn't realize how well they actually were getting paid

if he does get some of als guys it will be ones that al isn't putting on at all....or guys that have been taking l's on als shows.....hes not getting guys that are being pushed on showtime like spence or the charlos....no chance

No it won’t be in excess of $300m. Where you getting that from? The big escalators could be at the end (as usual). So you just don’t know.

$1Billion over 8 years with just Hearn. That's $125 per year. That doesn't include production costs, WBSS costs, and marketing costs. That will exceed $300 over 2 years.

But who told you the deal was structured like that? Could be $50m first year with escalators for subsequent years depending on markers reached. That framework is more likely.

Only way Hearn doesn't get through his full 8 years is if DAZN also fail, and I really don't think that's going to happen with the people involved at the higher levels.
Difference here in the US they will not be getting any rights to show any of the US major sports leagues like the NBA, NFL, NBA etc. All those leagues are already tied up to networks for years. Will the NFL throw them a Thursday Night game here and there like they do to Amazon? Who knows, but what exactly is DAZN US gonna offer subscribers to watch on other days of the week when their is no boxing. Remember boxing will be on at the max 3 times a month for a few hours on the weekend, what else is there the rest of the time that would make someone want to subscribe to DAZN?
