In his defense He was screwed against Trinidad which you even admit to and he was screwed in the 2nd mosely fight. Both fights he should have won. IMO Chavez was still Chavez when De la hoya beat him, He outworked Whitaker, He KO'd his rival fernando Vargas, and he beat a prime Ike Quartey. And this is all after winning Gold in the olympics!

say what you want about the fishnets and shady promotion issues but De la Hoya was a G when it came to actually fighting. Cant take that away from him.
Not buying it. All that counts is wins and losses in the record books. There are NO moral wins in sports or life. And you don’t get additional wins on your record for “not ducking.” And there is no such thing as could’ve, should’ve, would’ve. Again, all that really counts are wins & losses. He loss to Mosley. He loss to Trinidad. And that wasn’t the same Chavez in his prime before he lost to Frankie Randall. Vargas is not a P4P great or Future HOF’er. And we aren’t talking about Olympics, I am talking about his professional career which is what Oscar mentioned in the article. (2) great wins, Quartey & Whitaker period.

And the really great fighters in history don’t have a total of (6) losses against other great fighters IN THEIR PRIME. And great fighters historically avenge losses also. You don’t get extra credit for challenging great fighters and losing to them.

If that’s the case, let’s just go ahead and put Fernando Vargas in the HOF right now and call him a GREAT FIGHTER. He has only (5) losses total to Shane Mosley twice, Ricardo Mayorga, Felix Trinidad, and Oscar De La Hoya. But he has just as many great wins as Oscar against Ike Quartey and Winky Wright. And he has some other decent wins against Yori Boy Campas, Raul Marquez, and Wilfredo Rivera.

I could make the argument that “professionally” Vargas WINS are just as good as Oscars. I’m just talking about wins which is what Oscar brought up when he alluded to having a bunch of great wins. But neither one is great to me.

People will like who they like. Oscar always tries to treat fans like they're ******, trying to establish some narrative of thinking for them. I think Canelo would better off without him, as all of Oscar's "extracurricular activities" have been quite the distraction outside of boxing, but hey, whatever.

Exactly! And they always make ggg a victim by making it seem like he’s been held back and he needs there support! When he ducked Ward “well ok because he wants to unify 160” when he ducked Canelo at 155”oh Canelo is the one ducking the fight at 160” when Canelo fought a welter at 155 “oh Canelos a coward and a weight bully” then he turns around and fights Brook a welterweight at the full 160. That’s 13 lbs heavier!!! But the excuses roll in. “Oh there wasn’t enough time to find someone and this is a super fight WWYou do?” And he does it again with Vanes but this time it implicates dropping one of his belts the IBF! So only did he weight bully but he also cowardly drops his IBF belt against a guy he should’ve and could’ve easily KOd! And what happens?? The excuses roll in and to make that more fffd up these fanboys have the oddasity to blame this on Canelo! Listen Tripey gee fans “Stop playing the victim it’s weak!”

I can honestly say more fans would actually like Canelo if he wasn’t associated with Oscar. Canelo overall is a good man. But Oscar throws stones at people from a glass house and that’s what leaves a bad taste in people’s mouths. He attacks certain people and then has his own drama and stuff to work out. And as you said, he has mostly been disingenuous with boxing fans. So he just comes across as a phony guy and unfortunately people connect the dots with Canelo. With that being said, Canelo has made a lot of money with Oscar steering his career so they will be together for awhile.

Neither fights Mexican style. Canelo fights black American style in the mold of Floyd/Toney, while GGG fights the normal European, forward robotic style.

Oscar despite being bigger than his opponents when he was fighting at the lower weights was a very good fighter. He had excellent hand speed and a left hook from hell. He came to fight and had a career that 99.9% of other boxers could only dream about. Don't approve of his extracurricular activities and his management style but he was an outstanding fighter.

You over here talking about moms ans sh.it get out of here with that lil kid sh.it.
I'm a BOXING fan, not a boxer fan. See the difference? I doubt it, also defrauding? So if Golovkin fans are groupies, what does that make you and shadow? Since you both went so far as to post a bunch of bullshhh about clenbuterol and have spent the entire time since the news broke defending the guy, wayyyy before a follicle test. As I said before "If one of Canelo's opponents had failed the test" you wouldn't be accepting excuses. Learn to live with the fact that you love the boxer more than the sport, the rest of us know it..the only ones who don't get it or acknowledge it are you.
