PBC To FOX?

They haven't had all of the top fights for 3+ years since PBC has been around. Wilder has been on SHO and other networks like NBC and FOX in the last 3 years. I'm saying this is nothing new to Espinoza. You're not understanding what I'm saying. So lets say Wilder fights twice a year on SHO. Espinoza could be losing one of Wilder's fights per year now to FOX. Same with say a Spence or Garcia etc. Sure SHO will air the same amount of cards, but they just won't be able to show ALL the fights of their top guys anymore if the FOX deal is indeed official. For the PBC, it's GREAT. But a bit of a blow for SHO. Espinoza was asked specifically if he will let some of his guys go to say ESPN or DAZN for certain fights, and he said he does not want to lend guys like Spence/Porter/Wilder/Garcia who SHO has aired like 10 of their fights and spent 10s of millions of dollars on.
But to me it is great for the fighters as the top guys should no excuse have two fights a year, and some of them three. Some of these guys now will only have one, but that could also be blamed to the fighter themselves as they are content on only fighting once a year.
The only guy he's lost recently is Anthony Joshua who wasn't a PBC fighter but had an exclusive SHO deal and I guess Daniel Jacobs who's exclusively on HBO now that's it.Comment

More or less; Showtime will get the fill of fights for their schedule, and FOX/FS1 will basically get everything else (with BounceTV getting 4 shows about the level of FS1).
Keith Thurman's return fight (Thurman vs Josesito Lopez has consistently been the rumor), other name fighters on the road back, and then competitive fights featuring fighters on the rise/on the way out (Benevidez-Dirrell, James vs Peterson/Alexander/Rios/etc) as potential main events, with various competitive prospect fights under that.
If you like watching competitive fights, on a regular basis, on regular TV, the deal should work.Comment

They have had them for the last two years. Early on yes, you are right. Wilder was on SHO/FOX/NBC. But lately been on SHO. Same with Spence since the Bundu fight. They haven't had all of the top fights for 3+ years since PBC has been around. Wilder has been on SHO and other networks like NBC and FOX in the last 3 years. I'm saying this is nothing new to Espinoza.
The only guy he's lost recently is Anthony Joshua who wasn't a PBC fighter but had an exclusive SHO deal and I guess Daniel Jacobs who's exclusively on HBO now that's it.
Either way, SHO will still be able to put on quality shows. It's a big plus for the stable itself.Comment

That's true but it could mean that these guys will be fighting more often alsoSure they can, but he's going to want to air all those fighters fights. That's the point. You think he will want to lose out on a Wilder fight? Even if he fights once on SHO? No way, he has been saying in recent interviews the amount of time and money he has invested in these guys and he doesn't want to lose them.
But for PBC as a whole, obviously it makes sense for them to distribute some big name fighters to FOX to assure good ratings and quality.Comment

Yep. This is great for PBC. I wonder how many FS1 dates they will be getting with the new deal and how much the budget will increase. I think FS1 would be a great platform for guys like Lubin and JRock who are trying to make it back on top. They could get more fights in and then get on SHO or FOX.Comment

The money will likely go up, but remember what's being considered here. Showtime/CBS is the primary buyer, they'll get their pick of events, and they'll likely be putting on 20-25 events this year (with another 20 or so ShoBox cards, but that's with a different mix of talent).FS1 is fine, but what I'm more interested in is if the budget increases for the FOX prime time cards. It would be huge if we can get Garcia vs Thurman type of fights on FOX. The ratings for PBC on FOX have been bad, but the type of fights that are being shown at the current moment aren't exactly mouth watering match ups.
No different than with the UFC deal, for once a quarter (or for more shows than that) PBC needs to have one matchup that would've been good enough for Showtime/CBS moved to FOX.Comment

It would be like PBC when it first came out, except it will be on one channel instead of 10 different ones. Which would be smart, a major reason PBC didn't do better is because no one knew when it was on and on what channel. A semi-regular series on one channel would take care of a lot of that confusion. But with Fox, there probably would be fights on FS1 (Fox Sports 1), which is on regular cable.
Of course, most of the very top fights would still be on Showtime. But anything to make fighters more active is definitely a good thing.Comment

Barbosa is usually on the money. He's right about 95% of the time. One time he said he was hearing rumors that Floyd is coming back to fight and the fight would be in Texas. But even he prefaced that by saying it's a longshot but that's what he was hearingA good friend of mine with lots of knowledge..also a promoter and great insider told me: Hey Fer, Al already signed with Fox, he came to LA to sign deal the other day...huge deal (filling UFC's space)...but this time around, he will not announce it! That will be the Al I know

Interesting if true, but not total surprise. FOX was the only network from the big ones that Haymon had a chance to secure. Lets see if we hear more about this in upcoming days.Comment
