Broner puts up bigger numbers because he is a bigger name than guys like Spence/Garcia/Charlos/etc. At this point it doesn't matter who he fights, he will be putting up big numbers. That is why he keeps getting chance after chance even though he hasn't proven to be one of the elite fighters in the sport.
Networks haven't been releasing the app numbers. My sense is people under 35 watch more on the app then they do on TV.

I am not sure about the financing of advertising relative to apps/social media so I need to do some research so I know what the deal is.

So why do people on here say HBO is dead? We should be positive for all networks supporting our sport.

Because they have more subscribers. If you look at the top HBO fights and the top Showtime fights, the ratio of views to subs is very similar.

HBO also forces you to watch live. Boxing isn't on their app.

Showtime doesn't. I haven't watched a fight on TV on Showtime in more than a year.

I think the networks might be artificially lowering the numbers to keep fighter purses down. It is just hard to fathom that Broner pulls in such high numbers and better fighters in better fights don't.
Issue is probably due to IP's and allowing multiple users per account.

Kind of like how back in the day they used to say that "ratings" never took into account households with more than one television

I can only speak for my crowd, but I'm under 35 and none of my friends watch boxing on Showtime on TV. It's all the app in my circle.

I've actually decided to invest in ESPN+ (maybe DAZN once Prograis fights) and want to cancel my cable provider, but they get you with the Wi-Fi connection lol

Showtime won't allow you to view using more than once device. Not sure about ESPN+ though.

HBOs app (although no boxing) will allow it.

It'll be interesting to see what DAZN does.

It's dead for the simple fact they hardly invest in boxing anymore. Look at their schedule this year and how few and far between the cards have been. SHO has been killing it, while HBO will occasionally give you a card here and there. HBO just may think investing in boxing is a waste of time and it makes more sense to throw money at hit shows like Game of Thrones or what not.

Networks certainly have those numbers though. Not sure why they don't release them. Like ESPN knows the type of numbers the Crawford/Horn fight did, but they won't release them. Nor are they releasing the amount of subscribers they have.

I wish someone would be asking guys like Espinoza these questions.

It's sad but true. But the fact that they don't allow you to watch via app is bull**** imo. It's like they're purposely hurting the ratings of their fights relative to the original shows.
(I only note that point because they will frequently highlight "total weekly" views across all platforms for shows.)

HBO has more subscribers than Showtime. Keep in mind that the only way to watch fights on HBO is to actually tune to their channel via your cable company. You can't watch their fights via a live ****** on their app. You could ****** a live HBO fight via the Direct TV app, however those views get counted because you are watching via DirectTV. I've been watching Showtime boxing through their app for the past 2 years.
