For sure. Not quite sure how they would be able to get those numbers to be honest. Because the way ratings work is they just go off those that have nielsen boxes at their houses. So if you and I don't have nielsen boxes, then we won't be counted anyways.

I think the networks might be artificially lowering the numbers to keep fighter purses down. It is just hard to fathom that Broner pulls in such high numbers and better fighters in better fights don't.

Why is it fans tend to gloat and be happy when a card doesn't draw large viewings?

You don't want to see the sport succeed? The more fights fail the less the budget becomes, the less the fighters fight, the less good fights happen etc;

Mikey isn't a draw. When you only fight B and C level guys, no one will become a fan. He needs Lomachenko badly, not Spence.

These were very solid numbers. And there were 12k at Staples Center. Like I said, him and Spence are only below Wilder and Broner at SHO right now.

He needs Loma but Loma just had attendance of 10.4k in NYC against Linares with only 1.4 million views on ESPN?

No, networks aren't the ones that release these numbers. And it makes no sense for them to lower the numbers. They need high numbers for their quarterly reports and higher numbers results to bigger budgets/sponsors.

Broner puts up bigger numbers because he is a bigger name than guys like Spence/Garcia/Charlos/etc. At this point it doesn't matter who he fights, he will be putting up big numbers. That is why he keeps getting chance after chance even though he hasn't proven to be one of the elite fighters in the sport.

A channel like HBO will release the "weekly viewers" for shows, not boxing b/c boxing isn't on their apps (which includes live views and unique replay views).

We have no way of knowing how many people watch via app on ESPN or Showtime as of today.

HBO is just a flat out bigger network with 30% more subscribers. They have a built in audience that will be tuning into HBO on Saturday nights regardless if there is boxing on or not. And if there is boxing on, some of those folks will tune in. That is why when Wilder does 1.2 million against Ortiz it is super impressive. He did that going up against a Kovalev headlined card.
