Canelo is also relatively unknown in the uk and europe so whats your point.
They generate less money thats only because here they don't charge 80 dollars for ppv.
And if they did i still gurantee you joshua would still sell millions.
Joshua vs klitchcko 1.8 million ppv
Joshua vs parker. 1.5 million
Joshua vs takam. 1.4 mllion
Canelo vs glovkin 1.4 million ppv
Canelo vs chavez 1.1 million
Canelo vs smith. 475 k
Now is the thing the uk has 68 million population and the us has a 385 million population ser per ratio joshua is a 5x bigger drawComment

Fury just sold out the biggest indoor arena in the UK against Sefer Seferi. He's definitely a draw anyway.
Not sure if he's in the top 5 in boxing but it's possible. There isn't really many fighters you can say has actual drawing power in boxing today.Comment

if canelos ppv was as cheap as joshua he could very well be selling twice as joshua, but those are big if... look at the forbes list and you will get your answer...at $80 a lot less people will buy...Last edited by icha; 07-14-2018, 08:26 AM.Comment

Again, look at population size though.
If we do it on ratio of population:buys, would Canelo do 5m or 6m buys PPV's at $30 (roughly £20) against someone on the level of Takam? - that would be the equivalent if you factor in population and potential market audience.
in reality, there's so many factors involved in terms of cost, population etc..it's difficult to make an accurate judgement, but right at this very moment with all those things factored in, there isn't a fighter out there that can carry a PPV to do big numbers without a dance parter like AJ can.
You see a significant drop off in numbers when Canelo fights a relatively unknown guy. With AJ, it remains consistent because he himself is the draw. Canelo needs the event to be the draw.Last edited by TheBigLug; 07-14-2018, 08:49 AM.Comment

if we go by if then if canelo was selling his ppvs in mexico as cheap as joshua he could be making big bucks, he gets ratings of 20mil... instead he sells his fights directly to the networks who get huge money from advertising in order to give it free to people... canelo is huge in mexico and the us, and gets money from both, he could be drawing huge with cheap affordable ppvs... but again thats a big if... as far as draw as the op asked, his numbers in mexico alone generate more viewers than any other boxer in the world, if we want to talk about money, his numbers in america are bigger than anyones, those are facts, no if needed..Comment

The question was who is the biggest draw, not where the audience is drawn from.
Incidentally, for those interested in hard numbers over anecdotes, the boxers earning the most in purses for the last year were (according to Forbes) :-
1 Mayweather ($275m)
2 McGregor ($85m)
3 Canelo ($42m)
4 Joshua ($32m)
5 Golovkin ($23m)Comment
