Joshua and Eddie Hearn were all gung-ho for the fight... until they weren't.

You're a fool if you ever think Brits would £50 for a fight.21 million dollars a fight joshua makes and even if the price was increased to £50 people would still buy in droves.
Now the 80 dollars that are spent on a canelo fight is split in half before it even go's to the fight side so its more like 40 dollars that end up on the boxing event even you cannot be that kind of an idiot.
Time warner , comserve all get that other 50% plus yiur side of the pond there is 380 million people to sell to plus america has ingrained meican heritage so really when you consider the size joshua is a bigger draw.
Canelo drawing power is a lot less when he don't face a golovkin or a chavez hence why he only sold 450k against smith and 600k against khan.
Don't dress up canelo as if he is a mega star like a pacquaio or mayweather because he ain't
Anthony Joshua's events have basically topped out at clearing $40m-$50m.
Mayweather-Alvarez, Cotto-Alvarez, Alvarez-ChavezJr, Alvarez-Golovkin, Alvarez-Khan, and likely Alvarez-Golovkin 2 will all clear more than $40m-$50m (and it wouldn't shock me to find out that Alvarez-Smith got over the mark too).
We're talking money; put the crying over the size of your country to the left.Comment

you were that twat that said froch could never sell out wembley stadium a few years back if he faced golovkin and yet low and behold he then went and did 80k with george groves there so don't try and tell me who will pay for what in my country.....as I said canelo needs a dance partner to sell big amounts of ppv.....650k against khan and 450k vs smith show canelo is nowhere near the mega ppv seller that twats like you think he is.You're a fool if you ever think Brits would £50 for a fight.

joshua was 25 or 26 when he fought wlad. canelo was 22 when he fought floyd.
money generated determines who is the biggest draw. and thats caneloComment

Well I have to agree with that.True he was never a big draw even after he beat Wlad, but his period of inactivity has helped hugely with his popularity along with him being an obvious antagonist to Joshua. That and there are few true big draws in boxing right now.
Canelo is obviously the biggest draw, he makes the most money and has had the highest earning PPV's.
Joshua is the next biggest draw, every PPV sells over a million, though at a lower price than in the US, probably makes 15-20 mill for every fight even against a nobody.
Pac isn't as big a draw as he was but he still reportedly made $10 mill vs Horn.
After the obvious big 3 earners it gets a bit muddled. Before Haye retired I would of said Haye. Haye/Bellew 1 did 750K PPV buys and both earned millions for that fight, not sure what the rematch did but it probably did similar numbers.
Golovkin is a big name and made good money vs Canelo but then he only made 1 mill vs Vanes?
Wilder did the highest Showtime ratings vs Ortiz in years, so he could be a top 5 draw. But then he only made 2.1 mill for that and you have other Haymon fighters like Stevenson, Spence Jr etc making more. Even Mikey Garcia made more than that for Lipenets.
Whyte sold out the O2 vs Browne and is about to have a PPV fight with Parker. If that does well you could argue he's a top 5 draw as he'd be a proven PPV fighter.Comment
