"BoxingScene.com: There was some talk a few months back, regarding Oscar De La Hoya having interest in staging a fight with you. Were there any serious discussions to make the fight or was this something Oscar was putting out there to test the fans' interest in the fight?

Winky Wright: A while back, after I beat Tito (Trinidad). Oscar came up and said that he would fight us. Somebody made a proposal from his camp. They gave us the proposal and we felt that the proposal was not good enough. We turned it down."

Winky Wright turned down 6 million dollars to fight Oscar. A career pay day.

"As for Shaw last month turning down $6-million (plus $6 per pay-per-view buy above 600,000 homes) to fight Oscar De La Hoya ?

"He offers everyone else $10, 15-million," Wright said, referring to the $10-million Felix Trinidad got for beating De La Hoya in 1999. "I ain't doing it."

    Right there.

Winky is wrong on this one like everyone else that wish's canelo loses. Fact of the mattet is 3g will more than likely be stopped in round eight or nine, believe it.

Now you heard it straight from Winky’s Lips to God’s Ears! Lol! Not only do I think that G won the first fight, but I believe that he will KO Canelo, if the chance presents itself. If no KO, it will be a bloody battle! Again, this is if Can actually fights not boxes from range

your link doesn't work. So yesterday he says there was never an offer and now you're getting a quote from somewhere saying there was an offer?

I totally agree with your logic, also GGG will have been sitting and plotting how to demolish Canelo and Mr Nice Guy going to go show you don’t screw with him, Canelo (unjuiced) is going to have a very hard night ahead of him.

                Pure fabrication.

Fact: Oscar talked about Winky but never, ever made a formal offer to Winky. Oscar saw Winky convincingly beat Shane Mosley twice and destroy Tito and never mentioned Winky again

                Bottom line.....Oscar had no chance.

Absolute fabrication, no contract was ever put in front of Winky

How is that when Winky is literally quoted from 2006 saying that he he turned down the fight?

                    Multiple times actually.

Or are you just going to ouright deny this?

Ronald Wright..."De La Hoya can put it in the contract. They can be the promoters and they can have everything they want. I just want to get the fight."

Winky was willing to fight Oscar for peanuts but no offer for any amount was ever made, never. All the talk about 6 million is BS, it never happened. Arum said NO!
