The phantom 6 mil offer never happened. The so-called 6 mil pay day came from one poster that referenced an article in the St Pete Times that also never happened. There was never an article just a blow hard poster and repeating a fake comment doesn't make it real.
    Are you serious?

There is an article, multiple articles, where Winky Wright is directly quoted saying that he turned down 6 million dollars to fight Oscar.

He literally has admiited that on record.

He did an interview with this exact website in 2006 admitting that he turned down the fight.

    That's a fact.

Also, if you are referring to the sptimes article from 2006, which interviewed Winky and Gary Shaw, that is a real article. It has just since been taken down.

Right but he admiited he turned down the fight.

There's another article where he talked about turning down 6 million

This website no longer exists but everyone from this time frame remembers this article where he references turning down 6 million

"As for Shaw last month turning down $6-million (plus $6 per pay-per-view buy above 600,000 homes) to fight Oscar De La Hoya ?

"He offers everyone else $10, 15-million," Wright said, referring to the $10-million Felix Trinidad got for beating De La Hoya in 1999. "I ain't doing it."

Excerpt from that article in 2005.

          Cheaters Never Prosper

Gee Ginger! How come we're not hearing about all the other mexican boxers who aren't millionares and don't have a nutritionist on staff flunking drug tests for tainted meat left and right? See your still in mexico what about the meat now? We can only hope that your cheating, drug taking days come to a swift end in September. Going to be hard to win this one without your special meat and "special judging" How about we let Mayweather and Lara act as judges for this one to offset the corrupt judging you had working for you when you fought them? Dying to hear the excuse you have after taking a beating this time. Hope that knee doesn't get damaged again and the surgery reinforced it enough so you can run away from GGG. I predict you get dropped and knocked out within 10 rounds this time. No special meat or judging will save you.
