wards 'retirement' is a sham....

Early body shots in the fight looked to be on the belt line to me. The fighters wear cups anyway, so, unless it's blatant (e.g., Salido/Loma fight), I don't see how it makes a difference. I was rooting for Kovalev in the rematch, and I felt he won the first fight. However, Ward broke him ultimately, and Kovalev will never be the same fighter again.Comment

You know me brother, no bias. The rematch was my dream come true. Watching the racist get beat down and then seeing the overly self righteous nauseating boring mofo retire got me all excited LOLComment

A lot of upset people in this thread. All in saying is ward could make a HUGE difference to his all time standing in just one fight if he beats the cruiser winner, which is a very easy fight to.make. It's very clear he's still keeping himself in shape in case a fight pops up and no-one can explain to me why he rung up buglioni. Basically wants a cheap easy payday. Can u imagine the uproar if ggg retired even now at 36? They'd say he's running now the divisions livened up, which is what ward has done. Kovalev is literally has only risky fight in like 6 years, and he 'has nothing left to prove' reallu? Mayweather stood on top of the sport for many many years.and took on the threats in his division, ward hasn't. Even his most hardcore fans must surely be disappointed at how his careers gone after winning super 6? One top win in 6 years really isn't amazing when u consider all the good fighters around him he could have fought. He never wanted anything to do with Stevenson.
You can't be taken seriously in this subject and you are a walking contradiction.
You say Ward retired because the division was heating up? He moved up and fought THE MAN twice, none of the other guys in the division had the name, accomplishments, or profile to warrant staying. You are one of the biggest Calzaghe fans on here and he retired when both 168-175 we're hot or heating up. If someone criticised him for it, they would be as ****** as you are now.
Apart from that Ward competed and topped probably the most competitive 168lb era ever, if not, only slightly behind the early 90s. He did it dominantly, and beat a prime HOF'er in Froch CLEAN.
He has had 2 career threatening, serious injuries and was physically past prime those last couple of years. You could see it from the Smith fight on. This is what makes the two Kovalev fights even more impressive. He basically sat out a significant portion of his prime due to injury and promotional issues.
You come across as a bitter little man and you really should get over it. Ward is going in first ballet, and if he does come back to fight a Bellew for the money, that's hardly a walk in the park, and is a legit fight, so you should stop crying.Comment

Damn. Ward hit Kovalev with a hard uppercut in the balls and the ref awards Ward a TKO win instead of warning Ward and giving Kovalev 5 minutes to recover. That is not a win to brag about. Bivol could beat Ward.'Comment
