wards 'retirement' is a sham....

I don't think anyone is upset in this thread, there are a lot of people laughing and mocking you though, justifiably so.
You can't be taken seriously in this subject and you are a walking contradiction.
You say Ward retired because the division was heating up? He moved up and fought THE MAN twice, none of the other guys in the division had the name, accomplishments, or profile to warrant staying. You are one of the biggest Calzaghe fans on here and he retired when both 168-175 we're hot or heating up. If someone criticised him for it, they would be as ****** as you are now.
Apart from that Ward competed and topped probably the most competitive 168lb era ever, if not, only slightly behind the early 90s. He did it dominantly, and beat a prime HOF'er in Froch CLEAN.
He has had 2 career threatening, serious injuries and was physically past prime those last couple of years. You could see it from the Smith fight on. This is what makes the two Kovalev fights even more impressive. He basically sat out a significant portion of his prime due to injury and promotional issues.
You come across as a bitter little man and you really should get over it. Ward is going in first ballet, and if he does come back to fight a Bellew for the money, that's hardly a walk in the park, and is a legit fight, so you should stop crying.
bellew is not a legit fight, its a cherry pick cause bellew isnt even a top 5 cruiserweight really, if hes willing to fight at cruiser he should be willing to fight the best cruisers. Picking and choosing opponents based on whos easiest to beat, thats called cherry picking.
and ward fought 1 tough fight in 5 years, thats horrendous and most thought he should have lost the 1st one. although you lot tried to make out barrera was a good win, when i said i never thought much of him i was labelled a hater and verbally attacked. lo and behold bivol spanked him from pillar to post.
ive juust never known a fighter get so much credit for one decent opponent in 5 years, 5 of his prime years. you guys have ****ing low standards when it cames to categorising a fighter as 'taking on all comers', maybe anthony joshua should take a leaf out of wards books now? hes got a couple of good wins, maybe he should fight a few bums and wait 5 years before fighting someone else of note? oh wait, you lot are crucifying him cause he hasnt got the wilder fight signed within like 2 months lolComment

yeah, i didnt want to bring up the drugs thing cause i would get attacked even more, but im always su****ious when a fighter who has aspirations to move up in weight, takes a 'retirement'.Comment

Its "cool" to defend or praise ward because hes a "slick boxer". Extremely overrated at the point of retirement. Very dirty. Always had west coast officials that were on his side
Theres a snobby sect of boxing community who wanna praise his skills.
What i.will say is that hes a winner. He has a winners mentality and does anything to win. And if he cheats inside the ring as.much as he does then would he outside the ring and the physique for kova rematch, the "retirements" , the increased power and speed for kova rematch are all highly su****iousComment

Ward has been retired for quite a while now. He gave good reasons for retiring and any boxer has the right to retire at any time. It's his life, his career and his choice. He said his body could no longer take the stress needed for him to be in the 100% fighting shape to be his best. That's a good reason. Why hang around risking his health and possibly losing to someone he would have defeated when he was younger. Ward has lots of money and lots of ways to make money without risking brain damage. Bradley retired younger than Ward because he too had plenty of money and wanted to protect his health. Good health and a sharp mind are more important than just about anything.Comment

why did he personally ring up frank buglioni for a fight after kovalev, if he was so keen on retirement? calzaghe was almost 37 when he retired, thats the normal age to retire.

Age is relative to how your body ages, Ward has a massive boxing IQ which is why he could still compete, but the injuries he sustained would have ended a lot careers. This is often overlooked. You only have to look at his movement from 2010-11 and compare it to his comeback, his physical decline was not age, the injuries took a toll and he addressed this in several interviews. For someone who's had major knee reconstruction (ACL) and the subsequent problems which follow, I get it.
You keep using this 1 tough fight in 5 years and in fact it's a pretty false advert. First off he only had 7 fights in those 5 years, 2 were against a top 5 p4p fighter, 1 was against a top 10 p4p fighter (fried at the weight) but not not Wards fault. Barrera was a tough out, especially the second fight back after a long layoff. The fact that Bivol beat him doesn't diminish the win, it just means Bivol is a bit special.
I have no idea why his team contacted Buglioni, but the fight never happened so...
Not sure what Joshua has to do with this, I'm a Brit you utter tit lol, so don't try and paint me with that brush. I unlike you, can call a spade a spade.
You need to get over Ward...before all the ****** embarrassing threads you made about him getting laid out before both Kova fights get bumped.Last edited by sunny31; 06-12-2018, 04:54 PM.Comment

Bellew is one of the hottest fighters in world boxing at the moment, and you saying he's not top 5 at cruiser is a massive assumption. Plus the fight = £££.
