Exactly. The trolls keep claiming it's a conspiracy theory, but the truth is that it's standard procedure in boxing.

Haymon fighters have said repeatedly their listed purse isn't what they actually get paid.

Haymon's job is to maximize their revenue. One of the ways to do that is to teach them how to open their own companies so they can then pay themselves in whatever manner is going to be most advantageous tax wise.

Broner stands to make more than the reported pay. The roc nation deal would have fell through and his contract would have been void for the company's lack of business savvy. Broner fills the building. No matter his performance, he gets the TV ratings and that is earning power. He even said to a reporter not to let the purse Dan Rafael reports fool y'all.

Benavidez could have played this a little smarter. Feel bad for him. Could end up in court for a while—and lose everything in the process.

In the end, promoters just don’t care. If Arum did, he would’ve gone to Sampson, who he’s done business with, and tried to work something out. Instead, because he needs fighters, he offers the kid the moon and in the process may have screwed his career over short-term. The end result? Either Benavidez is shelved and loses his title...or he has two promoters taking a good chunk of his money like what happened to Pacquiao. But this is boxing and it’s the sport we choose to love.

None of this negates the fact that is was absolutely, unequivocally NOT a "slave" offer.

No one has ever accused AB of being smart, so ****** decisions shouldn't be surprising.

I don't knlw what sort of money he's making right now, but I wouldn't have thought he was making more than this. Seems pretty decent for someone at his level.

But AB is About Billions, so unless he is offered a billion $ per fight, he is getting lowballed and a slave’s salary.

He did. Sampson said no. Sampson is on record saying Arum offered him a million+.

Benavidez looking at a layoff or and/or his pockets thinning quick.

I bet Arum told him that, unlike other promoters, he genuinely cares
