I mean you can go off of the Salido angle and hope that a referee would allow Duran to do foul play roughhouse stuff that isn't by the book, but right now with Loma being Arums biggest star we all know that kind of thing wont be allowed to happen again, Salido got Mexican privilege that first time we all know it.
And Loma has never fought ANYONE close to Duran.

You’re acting like Duran being outclassed by SRL in the second fight means Loma would do the same. SRL is one of the greatest of all time probably top 5, plus he had huge size and reach advantages over Duran. What do you think would happen to Loma if he fought a prime SRL at 147???

As I said go and actually watch some of Duran’s fights at 135 then you’ll have a much more realistic perspective on this fight. Cause honestly Loma would get the **** beaten out of him.
And that’s coming from guy who’s been a HUGE Loma fan ever since I first watched him live in 2008.

The blue print is already evident on how to beat Duran the guy clearly struggles with guys who can offer angles and fight at distance, Loma has still time to probably get better and already I think he would beat him.
Loma is too small for 147, at 135 he isn't big either but he has enough size and in ring wits to bewilder guys who are taller than him, bigger than him, longer reach... Don't see why there is some sort of outrage to think Duran would lose at 135, nobody is invincible im sure at one point someone will come along and beat Loma as well.

“Loma is too small for 135, 147” he’s the same height as Duran😂😂
...and you’re using Duran losing to a 5”10 ATG welterweight where he was extremely disadvantaged physically as the blueprint to beat him😭😭😭😭
        Nonsense.

As I keep saying go and actually watch Duran’s fights at 135 and it will give you a better perspective. The guy was an absolute BEAST at lightweight NOBODY beats him at 135.

I've watched him fight at 135 plenty of times and I'm sticking to what I said, Duran couldn't deal with pure boxers he was fine dealing with guys who were straight down the line and not offering him a different fight.
Duran wouldn't be able to find the target enough to KO him and he would likely be getting beat to the target the majority of the fight, he either quits or loses wide on the scorecard.

The point of Loma being able to have a fairly easy time with a taller guy etc was me proving Loma has overall more to his game than Duran does, Duran had great heart and power, but it won't do much for you when the other guy is abundantly more smarter and talented than you.

          • I think duran hurts him badly.

He beat a prime sugar ray at 147 and you think loma would give him problems at 135?

Duran took sugar ray's best and outfought him.

People would call him a bum for losing to Tommy Hearns, Marvin Hagler, Wilfred Benitez? Laing maybe. The others? Yea, no.

He beat a prime Sugar Ray Leonard FFS.
De Jesus was a pure boxer and complete fighter as well.

Lesser fighters like Salido and Linares found the target so I’m pretty sure Duran would😂😂

You clearly haven’t studied Duran’s career properly, cause you don’t know **** about it.

                Done here...

I disagree. Today people expect perfection or you are crap. Not saying I agree, but I do think they would.

Don't forget the following 3 fights after Hearns and Hagler at the age of 33.

Won - 0-2 Manuel Esteban Zambrano
                  Won - 9-11 Jorge Suero
                  Lost - Jorge Suero

At 33, YOUNGER than GGG is right now, he fought two fighters with losing records and lost the 3rd fight.

If GGG did that, holy crap, BUM city. And people today say Loma and GGG are fighting bums.

Duran was great as he beat my all time fav fighter in Sugar Ray, but I believe he would be crucified for fighting a fighter who didn't even win a fight after fighting Hearns.

Loma with 1 fight at 135 (beating the top dog there) did pretty well. He will need more fights at 135 to really compare imo.

Boxers didn't have the same longevity back then. All athletes in general didn't. Isiah Thomas had to retire at 32 years old. Tom Brady just got MVP at 40.

Sports science has came a long way. Plus Duran didn't take care of himself and he went professional at 16. He wasn't going to stay undefeated into his 30's.

Did Duran ever lose to any Orlando Salido types while in his physical prime?
