How do you see Loma-Duran at 135 going?

I agree, BUT he did fight till he was 50!! So at 33, he was not even halfway through his fighting career, which is crazy to me!Boxers didn't have the same longevity back then. All athletes in general didn't. Isiah Thomas had to retire at 32 years old. Tom Brady just got MVP at 40.
Sports science has came a long way. Plus Duran didn't take care of himself and he went professional at 16. He wasn't going to stay undefeated into his 30's.
And he wasn't someone who took 10 years off and had a comeback. Dude was more active in his 40's than most fighters are today.
But to your sports science theory, wouldn't that make Loma a better fighter then with all that sports science behind him and he being the top dog now at 135?
Not saying he is, but the sports science theory contradicts the argument of if Loma can beat him. Can't have it both ways.Last edited by Cheerios36; 05-22-2018, 10:45 AM.Comment

Depends on which Duran shows up. Montreal Duran would beat Loma into submission. Coked out, drunk, fat Duran using his whole camp to get into shape would probably quitComment

How can you possibly say that the P4P #1 fighter today couldn't carry Sugar Rays Jock.
Sugar Ray is my all time fav, but that is like saying Roger Federer couldn't beat Jimmy Conners. Both are great.
Loma needs more time to get over the ATG hump I understand, but Loma is on his way.Comment

lol Duran has already been beaten at 135 before so your point is invalid and the guy who beat him is nowhere near as good as lomachenko.“Loma is too small for 135, 147” he’s the same height as Duran😂😂
...and you’re using Duran losing to a 5”10 ATG welterweight where he was extremely disadvantaged physically as the blueprint to beat him😭😭😭😭
Nonsense.
As I keep saying go and actually watch Duran’s fights at 135 and it will give you a better perspective. The guy was an absolute BEAST at lightweight NOBODY beats him at 135.Comment

So then the betting money would have to be on Loma right?
Would you put money on a fighter that you COULDN'T trust to show up to the fight ready to fight?
So by your thought process, where you put your money is who you think would win the fight.Comment

Duran was a 21 yr old kid when he lost to an excellent young fighter in De Jesus, he then avenged the defeat 2 yrs later. Duran is the GOAT lightweight, no debate...
Another idiot who DKSAB 😭😭Comment

I can accept Duran as the #1 at 135 in history but some historians would suggest Benny Leonard and I think Carlos Ortiz has a great claim too. I think Ortiz was good enough to even beat the best Duran at the weight and his resume at the weight perhaps has more depth if not quite the dominant run.
I certainly believe Duran to be in the top 10 boxers in history pound for pound and 135 was his best weight.Comment
