Agree with the first part. Idk about the cheap stuff doe. I think Arum is doing better now then when he was hanging out with HBO. And I do feel like when ESPN makes a legit play for the TR library, and I feeel like they will, thats where the money will be for TR.

    Agree with all of this.

Okay, but since when does it take so long to show proof of concept or 3 years to show you got a money making idea? Are we sure the PBC concept flies? Are we sure the PBC model is profitable?

Idk man. I think at some point you are behind the 8 ball if you don't make a deal. And when more & more people are getting TV deals logically I think you have less of a chance of getting one cuz there is only gonna be so much boxing on TV. You wanna be the player created the cycle not the person following the cycle.
We'll see how this ends up. The UFC just finalized the apparently 1st part of their deal with ESPN, and the WWE's deal should be finalized by the end of the summer (odds seem good that the WWE stays where they are).

Once FOX/FS1 figures out what they want to do with the UFC, Haymon will see if his idea worked. PBC and FOX/FS1 as longterm partners (using the initial UFC deal as the template).

Haymon basically scooped up the whole 2012 US Olympic team, is affiliated with basically the whole 2016 US Olympic team (sans Mayer and Antonio Vargas from what I can tell), and will likely get most of the 2020 US Olympic team.
So if there is ever another 1984 team PBC will kill it in that era?

Sh^t man I think Olympic boxing doesn't exist sometime soon. They've been talking about killing boxing at the Olympics since I've been watching Olympic boxing iirc. But I think its merely a matter of time til they pull that trigger. Kinda a whole other subject there doe my bad.

With the talent in the pool, you match the fighters in solid fights (not every fight is going to be even, but keep things competitive), and let the chips fall where they may; winners move on to the next bigger opportunity, with the losses in good fights resulting in lateral steps.
Yea I dig that model which I simply consider the UFC model of "creating stars". Its a machine more than anything close to how they influence who the next stars are in boxing. But I do have doubts that with the bad PR Haymon/PBC has that that can catch on with the masses. Hope I'm wrong cuz ultimately I got no dog in most of these silly lil fights, but I do, as a boxing fan first & foremost, wanna see competitive fight after competitive fight on a boxing card show. Thats the level most pro sport attain to...its bout time boxing makes that their level of quality too.

        This will not go well.

DAZN AKA "DAIDIOTS" got the rights to stream NFL games in Canada last year cutting out the cable and satellite companies out of the lucrative NFL package that gets you every game for the season. The problem was DAZN didn't have the technology to support it. Many people complained of terrible quality and video buffering etc. The NFL had to take it away from DAZN midway through the season and kick them to the curb.

DAZN also scored the rights to show Joshua-Parker fight in Canada. It's unknown how that went as I don't know anybody that was willing to pony up $20 to see that fight.

I like it already for the fact that DAZN is also available in germany. Ille be able to get those boxing cards without using crappy streams and that is wonderful news for me.

The idea that a promoter will simply poach fighters because he has money is getting ****ing tiring.

              Its.

              Not.

              Happening.

Sure you’ll get a few strays here and there, but nothing major.

Streaming is the future. It's taking over sooner or later and boxing will be on there.

I think if this rumor is legit these guys sound like players that could be around for the long haul and be among the final players in the streaming market takeover bloodbath between all these mfers trying to become the ESPN of streaming live sports content.
I think is the future, but I still see this being way ahead from today's market.

Streaming will be the primary source of content in some years. But sports are a bit expensive so I still dont know how they will figure it out

So it's 16 US shows plus the rights to his Sky Sports shows? I can't be bothered to go on BoxRec and count but I'm pretty sure he didn't put on anywhere near 24 British shows last year btw (four PPVs, something like 8-10 regular shows and a few crappy "NXTGEN" shows). I need to know exactly what they will be offering per American show before I decide how big of a deal this is, just knowing that it's seven-figures doesn't tell us much - e.g. $1m per show is probably no more than his HBO deal or Arum's ESPN deal, and I reckon Showtime currently pay about double that much

I live in germany and used DAZN a couple of times for real big boxing fights, because I dont want to bother with finding a reliable stream.

The quality was good and I liked that you can cancel your subscription to DAZN similar to Netflix immediately. So at the end of the day I pay 10€ for 30 days whenever a big fight is broadcasted and if I'm lucky I get more boxing broadcasts if they are happening within the 30 days.

I think the important thing with those streaming services that are operating in several countries is that the cost can be shared with a bigger potential customer base. If Hearn really puts on good boxing on DAZN, they will have my 10€ and from other boxing enthusiasts in germany, because we dont have a good boxingscene at the moment in germany.

So new subscribers from Austria, Germany, Japan, Switzerland, Canada (according to wikipedia) and now the USA, who will get the service because of the boxing content all contribute money to DAZN's boxing budget.

was paid up front before each event. so the only L was having to cancel a couple events when they went under. i went into it knowing there was a good chance they went last long enough to fulfill the full length of the contract. but when a start up is throwing money around, might as well get your hands on some of it.
