    • Golovkin: I Want The Big Fights, The Big Show, All The Belts!

New York, NY - Dressed in all business attire, IBO/WBA/IBF middleweight champion Gennady 'GGG' Golovkin (34-0, 31KOs) met with the media in New York to discuss his upcoming showdown with undefeated contender Dominic Wade. No it wasn’t the big fight with Canelo Alvarez, or a unification with Billy Joe Saunders, or even an interesting New York clash with another WBA title holder Danny Jacobs.

Instead, Golovkin has been forced to take on his IBF mandatory on April 23rd at The Forum in Los Angeles.

While the big fights are something that are craved for by Golovkin, the titles come first and keeping his IBF title was just as important to him as those aforementioned fights.

“I want all the titles,” a coy Golovkin told the media in the Legends Room at the MSG Theatre. “Wade, I think he’s hungry, he’s young, not bad, and he’s mandatory challenger.”

Considering the circumstances Vanes is a better fight. Do you know who is testing Canelo so he's not cycling through his 6-month suspension? He can cycle off and test clean. IMHO he needs to be tested twice a week every week until they step on the scales. The athletes usually know exactly what they are putting into their bodies in order to optimize performance, including medications, supplements and food.

To maintain this status, Alvarez and his promoter Golden Boy must toe a delicate line when deciding on fights as a loss could be a significant hit to his brand and ability to bring in huge money. Golovkin is, without question, the biggest threat to Alvarez in the ring in the middleweight division and he knows that "the business" is why Alvarez is dodging him, but he's fed up with that tactic.

“Yes, I understand that [a loss would hurt his brand],” Golovkin told The Times. “I understand this decision is maybe 20 percent Canelo’s and 80 percent [his promoter], Golden Boy. It’s business, but it’s not respectful of boxing. Everyone says Canelo is a great champion, the idol of Mexico. The idol for what? For boxing? No. Or as a businessman? Right now, he looks like a businessman.

Right now, GGG looks like a businessman! A hypocrite for sure, but still a smart businessman!

                • Let's see it happen. He should've picked Derevyanchenko instead of Vanes to get this out the way but he still has plenty of time to make it happen. He should fight him next and then Canelo/Saunders at the end of the year. Get back to 3 or 4 fights a year since time is running low.

Facts are not an attack. If being undisputed was his aim all along, he wouldn't have run away from his mandatory, a novice, average, with 12 fights, and now risking of being stripped.

Gervonta isn't a 36 year old, 13 year veteran with 40 pro and almost 400 amateur fights, and at the end of his career, but still hasn't beaten anyone good uncontroversially.

                    Come again.
